Popstars As Muses

I got to thinking about this and I thought it might provide for some interesting discussion.

Producers work with any number of popstars, but certain popstars draw out their best work for some reason. Ones that come to mind are Max Martin/Britney, Dr. Luke/Katy, Ryan Tedder/Any big-voiced diva, Bloodshy & Avant/Sky, and Stargate/Rihanna.

What is it about these popstars that draws out the best in said producers, when sometimes all they're providing is a persona and a voice to the track? There are surely quite a few examples I missed as well. This could easily turn into a discussion of how the music industry works when it comes to how artists choose producers or how songs circulate.

How could I forget about Xenomania and Girls Aloud? Lord, that's pretty much the biggest one.

I'm torn between Dr. Luke for Katy or Ke$ha. He's been behind basically every Ke$ha single, has he not? With Katy it's been most, but not all. I can't help but think Katy would be fine from here on out without him, but I feel like with Ke$ha she could do her own thing and be awesome, but Dr. Luke really steps it up for her.

Most of are just naming producers who happen to have worked with a certain artist. This hardly constitutes being their 'muse'.

I find it hard to believe that the likes of Paris Hilton or Kesha have inspired anyone in their art.
