Azerbaijan had so much good and bad in one song. At first I liked that it sounded like she actually spoke English well, but then came the "It's so COLT, COLT, COLT" which just made it all confusing. Great vocals and a good ballad, but she was such a soulless performer. The Jade Ewen of this year.

Germany looked like my ex. Ugh. LOSE THE CAP DAMNIT.
Born to run, get ahead of the rest.

Rona Nishliu would be a deserved winner. I still don't actually know what the song is about but I like to think she's singing about being shy as what I hear is "melotidvi SHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY". SHE'S SHY, STOP HATING HER.

More results! We're into the top 20 whey etc.

Serbia's entry for Eurovision 2012 was a masterclass in sending a person who would do well on name alone. Yes, while the UK has chosen to send irrelevant boybands and senior citizens, Serbia sent a man who is a huge star in the Balkans. And he proceeded to come top 3. Anyway, this song is rather nice if nothing memorable. Sounds a bit like Paradise but this is better than Paradise (which is awful). Also I thought he was kind of cute!

I remember nothing about this entry besides the fact that it was considered a no-hoper to qualify. Wait no scratch that I listened again. This is the song that sounds like a middle-aged man doing dance-pop. FUN. It's not bad at all but I remain surprised it got to the final.

We've now lost two of our top 5! Clearly Popjustice is very different to the European public. Two relatively attractive men (Zeljko more so) gone. Boo.

I thought they were both cute too. Loved the funny dance steps with the Maltese guy and Zeljko's performance was brilliant!

  5. #55
I *heart* Malta - the foot shimmy sold it - but I can't remember why I gave it 8!

  6. #56
No huge losses, San Marino should have wiped the floor with these lot.

  7. #57
Serbia was okay. I don't remember the actual Maltese song, I just remember it being utterly dire, and, well yeah, forgettable. But I guess it's good that they at least managed to qualify? Nothing tops Vodka, obviously.

Sorry this is so late, I've actually been busy! Shock, horror etc.

Lithuania's 2012 answer to Josh Dubovie (of 'That Sounds Good To Nobody' fame) was one of the favourites......to DNQ. It was much to the shock (and HORROR) of Eurovision fans that it DID get through and it was even more shocking when it managed to come home in 14th. If ever there was a reason to believe the UK has a disadvantage in Eurovision, it's the fact that they came home in last in 2010 while this was comfortably midtable. Still one of the worst songs of the year for me. N.B: citoig was drunk when he voted for this but he STAUNCHLY DENIES that this affected his decision making. I assume duffy and Fire just have bad taste and/or are middle-aged women.

Pasha Parfeny of Moldova wins the award for 'Most Attractive' this year but also wins the award for 'Song That Gets Annoying Quickest' and came home a close second for 'Performance Most Demeaning To Women', only being beaten out by Trackshittaz, who unfortunately failed to progress to the final. I personally quite liked this song in the semis but found it very hard to listen to in the final. It really grated on me. Plus I didn't like the performance at all with Pasha's face being literally the only saving grace. It just missing the top 10 was a shock but then he did close the show!

One shocker in this set, that being Lithuania, which I expected to be a zero pointer! Very disappointed in its placing. There are a few songs worse than Moldova's left I think but not many. Pity Pasha didn't have a better song.

Completely forgot these two, probably for the best really.

Moldova's song was amazing! My vote for Lithuania however was only for the 1 point, and it was a 'what song left is the least shit so I can finish my list off' situation. I actually really liked everything else I voted for so I'd say this year was a lot better for quality than last year.

I didn't think Lithuania was that bad. I had it at 14th out of the songs that made it to the final.

  12. #62
I hated Lithuania's song too. Very shocked it qualified. My mum loved it and so did one of my best mates much to my horror!

Absolutely loved Moldova. One of my faves this year and Pasha is very easy on the eyes. I thought the whole performance with the girls was fab.

More love for Moldova from me! It's a real grower and I loved the weird vaudeville dance routine.

No, I can't fathom how this got so far either. Non-female Turkish entrants = atrocious. BRING BACK SERTAB ERENER.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE #2" = this. Albania was represented by Rona Nishliu in 2012, singing her 'Call Me Maybe' rethread, 'Suus'. Suus was another near certain DNQ prior to the contest but not only got through its semi but stormed to 5th in the final, giving Albania their best ever result. Rona was reported to have been "beating men off with sticks" during her stay in Baku, with the "dreadlock super glued to your chest" look becoming a huge fashion movement back home in Albania. I personally LOVED Suus - very underrated song on the interwebz. Should have done so much better here!

Two more of the top 10 gone and another top 5. Only two of the people in the top 5 remain!

Albania was fucking terrifying in a really entertaining way.

  16. #66
I think Albania was the song I had it last...

  17. #67
I absolutely loved Albania's entry and was so very pleased to see it do well, but not in a million years would I ever wish that it actually won. It got a perfect placing in the final, to be honest.
Born to run, get ahead of the rest.

  18. #68
I agree that it's not really "winning song" material, but it's still pretty damn amazing. Turkish entry was absolutely horrifyingly awful.

  19. #69
Not keen on either song! Especially Albania. All that screaming and wobbling of that note in the chorus and don't even get me started on that hair. Definitely an acquired taste! The only thing I liked about Turkey was the boat they made.

A powerful voice does not a good song make.

it sounded like the death throes of a wounded albatross. Looked a bit like one too.

  22. #72
I absolutely love Lithuania's entry. If Sophie Ellis-Bextor was singing it you'd be all over it.

  23. #73
I really hope the dreadlock chesthair look goes worldwide.

  24. #74
Albania was awful. Probably my least favourite song this year.

  25. #75
You have to give Turkey credit for their amazing manboat.
