ESOB and TMTYH I expected not to be perfect and tbh they are pretty disappointing but to have the other 33 videos in such amazing quality MORE than makes up for it. Especially Tripping On Your Love which is my fave. I'm am overjoyed at this DVD, what a fantastic day!!!

On a personal level I wish Trick of the Night, Long Train Running and More, More, More had been on the CD as they are favourites of mine (somehow over the years Trick of the Night has crept up on me to become my favourite 'rama song) but that's a minor quibble. It is so awesome to have all their videos on DVD, I never thought I'd see the day! Kim Wilde next please.

Mine has just arrived. Shame there aren't really any sleeve notes to speak off but I like the shout out to Jacqui and Siobhan.

I thought Sara and Keren's thank yous were quite touching. It's obvious they are best friends.

It must've been awkward for the third member...

Sara and Keren seem lovely but Bananarama never has and never will be just the two of them.

  7. #157
I agree with the above. What is really tiresome post-trio are the videos. They are all just... Keren and Sarah singing close together, touching each other slightly, the odd eye to eye expression, brush of the hair, lean in together, half-hearlty dance a bit... the storyboards are none existance once you hit Movin' On. Its just dancing in various outfits. The worst video ends up being Look On The Floor. Keren looks like she has a moustache at one point. They seem to age drastically in that one video... awful lighting! The Pop Life-era videos are quite stylish and adventurous, the earlier ones just classic 80s videos, but the duo years seem really lacking creatively on film.

Did everyone notice the extra footage at the end of the Venus 12"? It's the full 7 minute version (The Greatest Hits Collection VHS only had a 5 minute edit!). Some nice additonal Shuv-Devil action... oh my!

Movin' On and Love Don't Live Here are such great pop songs!!!

I watched "Love Comes" (and "the making of") on youtube again today in anticipation of this arriving.

It seems it had a rather large budget for something that was never going to chart! Along with "Move In My Direction" it's probably my favourite song of theirs as a duo.

Siobhan was/is extremely good looking isn't she. She could even pull off a short back and sides.

Does anyone remember the bit on the Greatest Hits Collection VHS when they introduce Venus and More Than Physical and they're running around the street and doing some photo shoot? What was that film for, some sort of US promo?

  12. #162
Yes. There's a Multimix that was never released anywhere else, too. I recorded it onto cassette back in 1988 so I could listen to it. You could still hear the buzz from the TV on it though! Dear me.... not sure where the footage was from. I think Pete Waterman is with them, they're walking around the streets in the rain with umbrellas and they're shouting "Pete!" a lot. The intro sections seem to be on set somewhere and going on the haircuts, it's circa 1987/I Heard A Rumour. It may have been some PWL project as the only clips they introduce are Venus and More han Physical, and as Pete is there, and it's 1987... makes sense. That VHS also had the BPI performance and a video montage for Mr Sleaze. I wish they'd put both on this DVD as extras. And maybe the sketches they did for the And That's Not All... VHS.

I never thought it could've been Pete Waterman. I assumed it was Peter Loraine? The reason I thought it might be a US thing is because I'm sure it looked a bit NTSC. Would PWL have paid for some promo for an act not on their label? It looks more True Confessions/1986 era to me than '87 too. Siobhan only seemed to favour the braces round the crotch look in '86!

I'm sorry. but you want shooting in the face for including this piece of crap...

05 Venus (The Greatest Remix) 3:42

...over the original?! And most of your mix names aren't official/don't exist. ie. Trick Of The Night, Do Not Disturb, I Want You Back, I Can't Help It, Love, Truth & Honesty, etc. have no "Single/7" Version/Mix" credit. I have iTunes OCD so I can't have random made up mix titles like that. They're just the same as album versions, but your titles would suggest they are some how different. I Want You back is of course remixed a bit and is therefore different, but it's not credited as such anywhere. And to be fair to you, Trick Of The Night is also different, but it's called Trick Of The Night #1 on the UK 7". I'm very fussy!

Well, it could be him too. Siobhan's hair is the same as in I Heard A Rumour, from memory... Trick of The Night was February 1987, and Venus and More Than Physical are of course from True Confessions, so it's within the PWL era either way. It's probably from some promo EPK.

Shy Boy can never, ever be left off any 'Rams best-of selection. It's right up there among their best. Not sure exactly what I'd leave out if I were forced to reduce their career to a single disc collection now, but I expect the latter years would suffer!

No need to shoot me in the face anfunny! It's only a CD!

I agree a lot of the 7" Versions seem to be the same as the album (and some very much aren't like "Nathan Jones", "I Want You Back" etc) but seem to be labelled as 7" Version on the CD Singles so I guess it's how I labelled them in my iTunes.

I would love you to sort out my iTunes with your OCD! I thought someone would be more angry at my choice of "Cruel Summer" which I far prefer to the original but I could quite happily listen to the original "Venus" instead of the remix. I think I just chose it because I felt it was a bit punchier.

  19. #169
Well I'm going to call him anfussy from now on, hehe. Tagging/naming stuff is a minefield, especially when the actual CDs aren't even consistent at times.

I have what I assume is the original version of "Rough Justice" at 5:06 in my iTunes with the Extended version at 5:21. So is the 3:38 version not a single version? Arrrgh this is going to irritate me now.

In order to settle any confusion I DEMAND someone release all the Bananarama singles on CD chronologically each week with all the correct single mixes and remixes. If it's good enough for Elvis and Michael Jackson it's good enough for Bananarama.

  21. #171
What drives me nuts is all the different names for what are essential single versions: single mix, single remix, single edit, single version, radio edit, radio version, 7" mix, 7" radio edit..and so on! I often just use my own simplistic names because nothing in my iTunes has multiple mixes...it's just the single version and maybe the album mix from the album itself if that's also in my iTunes. I can't be doing with the confusion!

Isn't Peter Lorraine far too young and a fairly recent addition? I assumed he'd has no involvement until signing them to Fascination for Viva.

Faily sure he ran True Confessions (their fanzine in the late 80's). He has been involved with them for ages.

  24. #174
Well he was editor of TOTP magazine in 1995, so he's not that young.
Replying with GIFs is like arguing with a tree - really boring.

Yeah, he's known them for pretty much most of their career. He's behind the @Bananarama2012 Twitter account now, which is supposed to be the modern version of the fanzine.
