What is the point of Rihanna

I don't think any of those girls have the sensibilities or the personality that Rihanna has. Maybe I'm giving her too much credit, but I think she's one of those people producers enjoy working with because she's a sort of muse. Something about her brings out the best in them, though I'm not sure what it is. I guess then it wouldn't be the same if it could be explained.

There are too many other factors in play, JadeFan. Mainly the fact that Rihanna has a better and more distinctive voice, style and edge than Ciara and Cassie put together (plus everyone loves the whole Caribbean set-up), and that Keri Hilson has a likeability comparative to that of a rusty nail piercing your toe. Plus, Stargate and the like have always just seemed to 'get' Rihanna. What is there to 'get' about the three others that you mentioned?

And she's sexier than the lot of them, which does help! She has 'the face' that can plaster the t-shirts of adolescent males far and wide.

I assume it's similar to the Britney/Christina (Unique distinctive voice vs large vocal range and ability) vocal differences, but RiRi sadly doesn't have the personality that Britney has (aka had during her peak) to justify her success. Her looks play a huge role in her success and filling a niche that was left unfilled for a long time. Katy is gorgeous, but her singer-songwriter thing was a big part of her original appeal; same with Ke$ha, though her personality was more present than her looks were in her appeal. Her and Minaj are probably the least talented out of all the current pop stars. Neither can sing well or dance and come off as void of any personality. Rihanna is gorgeous and Minaj can somewhat rap well, except when forced to do it live.

I'd even go as far as to say Rihanna is the last of the successful manufactured-by-a-label popstars.

Rihanna was 15 when she started her career and 16 when she debuted. Guess she must have been fucking for beats even back then huh? Hell, knowing what an untalented slut she is she was probably having gang bangs for beats by the age of 17 am I right?

I'm not saying she's a slut, I wouldn't blame any young girl for being manipulated. They probably hype them up, pay them attention and tell them they'll make them famous, then blow hot and cold to confuse them and make them vulnerable. Of all the thousands of attractive girls who can sing, males in the industry would favour those who give them favours (just like most other industries). She clearly has an ability to be sexually captivating, despite her strong features, and girls learn about that power with boys at school. I doubt her physical appearance on its own would be enough to get her ahead, because there are hoards of attractive teenagers who can hold a tune. Cassie is an example of a more beautiful girl than her, with a unique voice as well.

Obviously she doesn't need to do it now (and no girl would do it just for the hell of it). Chris Brown is deranged but you have to agree her reaction was suspicious, because the song didn't mention anyone, and her reaction only drew attention to it so she must have felt strongly. It would explain why she kept her record deal after the first album, and why so much money and effort was consistently spent on her to make her huge. Can you imagine if Lady Gaga or Katy Perry hadn't become immediately famous? Would their record companies have continued to bother so much? Rihanna didn't even have a (public) personality, much of a media presence or image until her 4th album.

Her main talent in the past 2 years has been her sexuality, which is funny because everyone used to think she was ugly during Good Girl Gone Bad. I just wonder if Cassie had been given the same chance (and Keri when she was younger) she would be in Rihanna's position now, because she's facially much more beautiful. I suppose with Rihanna it's a Marilyn Monroe situation. A girl who knows their sexual power to the point where everyone is oblivious to their physical imperfections. It's wrong that only females should be judged by their appearance, but when your talent is sexiness, that's what will happen. And it just so happens that there are many other, prettier female singers who were one hit wonders and weren't nurtured like Rihanna.
