I really didn't know what was happening in the finale. I don't know if it's because I didn't really enjoy it or if I just really didn't want the season to be over haha. I was really hoping Marnie would have sex with Charlie in the bathroom...she was always saying she wanted him to be more take charge and manly and that's exactly what he was doing. I mean, fine if she doesn't want to get back together with him but then instead she makes out with the fat guy? Yeah fucking right.

Jessa is literally nuts and I sort of totally agreed with Shoshanna when she said everyone was a dumb whore. I don't think Shoshanna has ever said anything less than flawless, though. Her freaking out about wearing white was my favourite part of the episode. Or when Marnie told Elijah she hoped he found what he was looking for - the look on his face!! Amazing. Probably not what he was expecting after her whole "I'M NEVER COMING TO BUSHWICK AGAIN" thing.

Ps, how amazing is the music in this show? LCD Soundsystem, Sleigh Bells, Britney, Robyn and Dragonette. Amazing.

The whole thing of Marnie not having sex with Charlie was to make a point though.
It's the same reason Hannah wasn't into an actual relationship with Adam.

They all love to lust after the fantasy, but once they have the option of turning it into reality they don't want it.

The use of "Yankin'" was sublime.

Also, what is Marnie short for? I'm thinking something ugly like Hermengard or something, but that doesn't make sense...

I'd love to see where the second/third seasons go - both Tiny Furniture and Girls so far have been really auto-biographical, I'm curious to see what Lena Dunham does when that well runs dry. Awesome show otherwise - it feels incredibly pertinent, the fact that I'm neither female, nor live in New York notwithstanding.

Lena Dunham just live-tweeted part of the Girls marathon that's happening right now on HBO.
She forgot to order HBO when she moved two weeks ago so had to do it from memory, haha.

She confirmed Shoshanna wasn't supposed to be a regular but that Zosia played her so well they made her one.
This must mean her role will be bigger in season two.

I love this and can't stop analyzing every aspect of it/how it relates to myself and real life people I know/have met.

Seeing Soshanna more often would be amazing. (Somehow I can relate to her..but also to the other girls)

This has to be my favourite quote of this forum. Very well said. (Especially if you replace "they" with "we".)

I think the most frustrating thing about this show is that a lot of Hannah's flaws are Lena's flaws and it shows in the writing. I don't want to watch fifteen minutes of Hannah being selfish and learning life lessons at snails pace: I want to know more about Jessa's motivation to marry Chris O'Dowd. I want to know what, if anything, Marnie felt about kissing Jessa. I want to know SOMETHING about Shoshanna's life.

I think the second series has the potential to be much better, but the series finale didn't give me the hope i'd hoped for.

It took me a while to figure this show out, as at first sight none of the characters seemingly had any likable traits, but now that I'm five episodes in it has finally won me over. I think that watching Tiny Furniture (which everybody who loved Girls should definitely see if they haven't done so yet) in between episode 2 and 3 helped a lot.

    Once again, HBO delivers.

It seems Mr. Big might be making an appearance in season 2.

    GENIUS.

YES LENA. I love the mix of homage and patronising in regards to Sex and The City.

Watching through season one again. Can we all take a moment and appreciate just how fucking good this show is?
Born to run, get ahead of the rest.

It's so quotable without trying to be! "Crack spirit guide" etc etc.

"Everyone's a dumb whore!" is one of my favorite moments in TV history.

I'm still living for the faux-seduction of her boss, "Because you are gross and so am I"
Don't mince words, don't be evasive, speak your mind, be persuasive.

Has there been a start date for series two confirmed yet?

  18. #93
    It'll probably be February 2013.

Unless HBO puts it earlier on the schedule but they won't.
Their fall is already packed anyway.

I assume it's safe to say that Adam will not be wearing much of a shirt in season two either?

    BURGER B-TCH.

I don't really like any of the guys in the show. It's all about the girls.

Mister G, I love your avatar!

    Here is the "tease":

The show will be back in January and at least we can expect good music.

  22. #97
I'd just like to reiterate that this show is completely genius and amazingly quotable. Months later, a line of dialogue will pop in my head again and I won't be able to stop saying it.

  23. #98
Anyone watching this on Sky Atlantic? Was not expecting it to be so explicit but the script and performances are spot on.

  24. #99
I am! I didn't even know much about it other than I'd heard it was good so decided to give it a go and it's absolutely brilliant. I love Shoshanna.
Been there, done that, t-shirt didn't fit.

Soshanna is great - my favourite quote from her is still "Everyone is a dumb whore".

    Thank Girls for those guys:
“Don't just think, okay? That's an extremely unattractive feature of your generation."
