I like Soyoung's vocal for it's distinctiveness. When the first Gen covered Shinwa's Wild Eyes, I was surprised at her vocals. Mimed, yes, but the studio version was probably the most impressive thing she's done vocally.
FLASHBACK IS OUT! I linked it in the General K-Pop topic, go listen NOWWWWWWWWWW!
Not long till the MV!
Yeah, I'm waiting for the MV to make my full opinion. As of now I am slightly disappointed but that's K-Pop and teasers for you. They were heavy on the visual though so lets hope the MV makes up for it!
Nana's solo eyeline(r?) is pretty good.
손목시계 feels more like AS. A nice ballad with a lot of JungAh.

I'M IN LOVE WITH IT EVEN ON FIRST LISTEN!
Listening to Rip Off now.. if thats Kaeun doing the chorus parts at first.. HER VOICE IS GREAT! She does have a strong tone to her voice! I can't wait for the MV now.. I just need to know what Kaeun sings and everything.. I'm in love, Omg, this is amazing.

Rip Off is not good. Why does it sound like all the energy was taken out?
Thanks Benevenstanciano.
I'm 80% satisfied with this mini! I love Rip Off, Flashback and Eyeline. I just don't like the fact we have to ballads too. Also the fact that Eyeline is just Nana, I wish it was all the members. Other than that.. I'm in love.
Flashback definitely grows on you everytime you listen to it. It's stuck in my head now! Going to be playing this all night for sure!
It seems E-Young is singing the first verse and UEE in the second. Still listening to it now.

Eyeline is pretty much just Hollywood without a shit chorus and better production (just a tad).
Thanks Benevenstanciano.
I really wish that the high note was Kaeun's! Although it is most likely Raina.. again.
I'm finding it hard to tell who's singing what (Although I've yet to listen with my earphones.. doing that next play!) Although I can't really hear anyone apart from Raina, Junga, Lizzy, Nana and I think Kaeun. Although it's likely it's just my ears and they are all singing.

That Wristwatch ballad. Meh, next. Over the top and tacky - like a majority of KPop ballads.
Thanks Benevenstanciano.
B-b-b-boy I miss you oh baby o-o-o. I like it now. Hopefully the MV is fire. I don't think this is going to win any awards though.
Rip Off sounded completely foreign to me. I think mostly because I was used to the Japanese version. It sounded weird with Kaeun doing the chorus - if that was her, though it was VERY impressive. It's bizarre because I found Rip Off to be a 'Kahi' song. I still liked this version but definitely understand that the oomph was gone - I think it's the diction of the language that makes the difference to be honest.
Flashback is UHHH-MAZZZZINGGG! I loved instantly! It's definitely a new, great direction for After School. I can't believe upbeat it is. I notice the instrumental in the middle 8 was used for the teaser. I'm so glad it's not dubsteppy all the way through. That final dance bit reminds me of something though. I must clap a bit for Raina at the end of the music breakdown, very nice dear. If that is E-Young at the beginning, I am impressed little evil one. I'm literally begging for the MV.
Eyeline is fantastic, but I feel like it should have been a Nana vs UEE type song considering they're both 'visuals'. I think UEE would have made this song so much better, but I like Nana and this sound. This maxi single is already so impressive. The verses are fire, but Nana can't carry a chorus on her own. Though, Oh my god at that middle-8 - It's very 90's = great!
I have to duck out so I'll write about the other songs soon-ish.
playing 'Flashback' over Cheryl's 'Call My Name' Vid makes me wish they used that kinda choreography. It's the 50th time I've played it tonight, and only now it's starting to grow on me.
"Rip Off" sounds so flat, completely inferior to Japanese version.
"Flashback" - I like it, slick production, dubstep part done right, just chorus is weak. MV will make me love it.
"Eyeline" - Instant favourite, it's like supemrodle anthem. Nana should use some help on the chorus though, other than that it's flawless.
"Wristwatch" - what a boring OST ballad, yuck.
"Timless" - surprisingly I like it, it's nothing special, but it reminds me of early 00's pop ballads, especially verses. Not their best midtempo, but nice album track.
Lady Love / Dilly Dally debuted a #6 in the weekly rankings with 13,424 copies sold.
Previous singles 1st week rankings & sales:
#7 23,760 Bang
#12 17,448 Diva
#7 12,110 Rambling Girls / Because of You
I think it's good that they can peak at #3 in the dailies. I hope they get a top 3 or 5 single within the year in the weeklies.
Anyway, here's a new Lizzy teaser for Flashback.
