Well they peaked at 8.7 million, not bad.

I had to switch off when Danny from The Script started rapping. I could vault into a waterfall of his talent and remain unscathed. Why did he agree to do that? It was awful. The whole thing is terrible. The winner is such a non-popstar too, but then it's 'all about The Voice'.

I just don't get The Script's popularity at all. Something about them rubs me the wrong way, I think it's the fact that they've always had this boyband vibe (and not in a good way) even though they're supposed to be a pop-rock act. There's something very calculated about them, it's almost like their whole career has been orchestrated by Simon Cowell: 'pretty boy' lead singer, forgettable and samey songs and their only sources of inspiration seem to be Maroon 5 and OneRepublic ballads. I generally even like their genre, but they really stick out like a sore thumb.

I'm not particularly fond of Leanne, but I'm glad Tom Jones is the winning coach.

I know what you mean, Marie. Lawson have the exact same vibe you've described.

So the finale was a hit in the ratings? The format needs tweaked but the BBC still have a potential smash available if they get it right.

The Script are ATROCIOUS. They're like the 'go to' band for people who like all the 'real' music drivel. And I just detest Danny in general.

    I'm glad it's over.

They found the next Jane McDonald. Universal must be so pleased.

  8. #283
Bo's EP has shot from nowhere to #8 on iTunes albums, good going, meanwhile Leanne trundles into the top 20 singles. Poor Tyler...

Why is everyone shocked at Danny's rap-singing? It was from a Script song...

Surely it was Professor Green's rap?

Well, the final 8 all had to sign contracts which means Universal can pick the ones they like anyway.

Same with what Simon does with Xfactors final ten, ties them to a contract for long enough until they can't capitalise on it with another label.

I've just watched it again, and the first bit is Pro Green's, you're right, but then he busts into a bit of 'We Cry' from "Mary's ambition..."

So the Voice's 'final eight' album is out, and it sounds a bit dreadful. Awful production on near enough all of the songs. Max Milner sounds lush on record though.

Did Leanne not chart? Shame... It was nice seeing Bo's EP peak at 2 earlier last week and Tyler's album finally in the top ten on iTunes.

If they wanted this show to be "different" they ought to have made it an actual singing competition, genuinely about the best voice and not the most marketable/best sob story/least pub singer-y.

How embarassing for her! I wonder if she will write her own material, I know she has before. Please no Tom duets, the world isn't ready for that.

I hope Universal gives her a chance and invests in her properly. She is talented and deserves every shot.

I find it crazy how Leanne even won, and always did know she'd flop. Tyler and Bo seemed so much more popular all the way through and I think she was just impressive on the actual finale night, rather than being consistent for the whole show.

Tyler's single makes the Top 40, while Leanne's disappears from the charts...

It's not as if his single charted *that* much higher than hers, but with the British emphasis on the 40, it doesn't exactly look great...

The other finalists' singles are scattered around the lower reaches of the chart - am slightly surprised that Max's is the next highest, as he was the only one I didn't rate at all, and that Vince's the lowest, but I guess that's just the difference between my taste, and that of the UK record buying public as a whole (well, the small percentage that bought singles by the voice finalists, anyway).

  22. #297
Tyler's single probably charted higher as his is a version of a song which has been very well played recently from the cover by James Vincent McMorrow and people know that very well without really relating it to a certain act, unlike 'Run to you' which is Whitney's and Whitney's alone.

Why has Leanne now done a video for Run To You? it's being shown on the music channels, isn't it all a bit too late now?

  24. #299
It is stupid that they've only just released a video but it looks cheaply made so any promo is good in that sense.

  25. #300
I'm not sure what exactly they are trying to do with Leanne. It's like they hadn't planned anything past the show. Nice to see Tyler get in the Top 40!
