This programme is terrible. It pretends to be all about 'The Voice' and then time and time again they go and pick the younger or more marketable contestant however horrific their singing has been.

There's only about 3 people on the whole show who are properly decent.

Any supposed credibility this show has disintegrated last night (Sunday night show)- and the reaction on Twitter (my timeline, I admit) was overwhelming negative.

One of the most over-long, over-sung, painful 18 hours (it felt like) of television I've seen.

Literally not ONE of the contestants was anything other than entirely average vocally and were under the impression that good singing is about shouting as loud as humanly possible. Brian Blessed would sail through.

As soon as the 'blind auditions' facade was down the judges reverted to type - as I always said they would. Euphemisms like 'contemporary' and 'less pub singery' were used to mean 'not old' and Danny became obssesed with how pretty girls were.
There ain't a reason you and Misha B alone, tonight yeah baby, tonight yeah baby...

I didn't even bother with last nights show after the horror of Saturdays.

It was terrible. Basically who can shout this song the loudest. Some truly awful singers screaming some classics.
Warning: The above post may contain sarcasm...

I know we're not meant to link to our blogs, so I won't (its in my signature anyway) but I really said all I wanted to say about it on that.

Painful, overdrawn and generally disappointing three hours of television. Every stride it made in the first few weeks felt like they have been destroyed over the weekend.
I'm about to drown in the ocean.

I agree the shine has gone off this show but the ratings are still good so I assume the BBC will be pleased it finally has a hit on it's hands. Overall the battle rounds failed to deliver and that was due in no small part to the amount of nonsense that came out of the judges' mouths, particularly Jessie "TV isn't ready for the amount of talent on this stage" J.

I'm really sick of the way they continually over hype Jazz like he's the second coming and not the Luther Vandross tribute act he really is. For me the only two acts I can see selling records are Joelle (after a serious make-over) , Bo and Max Milner who is like a talented Oly Murs.

Mr PJ opines on The Voice for The Guardian:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-rad...do-with-voices

Behind all the bluster surely everyone involved in The Voice – unless pathetically deluded – knows that it's a reality show much like any other. They know that it was a big brash ratings-winner for a commercial network in America long before someone at the BBC decided that public service broadcasting was best defined by spending £25m on a format aimed at taking on Britain's Got Talent. They know that the spinny-chair blind audition is mere tokenism when the coaches – who, let's remember, could not be trusted to put their stinking prejudices to one side for the first auditions – can subsequently weed out contestants once they've seen what they look like. Most alarmingly, they know that by focusing on singers who they claim might not get a chance elsewhere – LOOK AT THE BALD WOMAN SINGING, LOOK AT HER BALD HEAD WITH A SONG COMING OUT OF IT – they are exploiting people who look "unusual" just as much as The X Factor ever did, while pretending they're not and insisting it is for the contestant's own good.

It is a dark day for popular culture when one pines for the transparency of a Simon Cowell show, but The Voice's problem is that it attempts to graft earnestness on to a show that does not require such interference. Without wishing to over-egg a pudding that is already 90% meringue, The Voice represents the newboringification of light entertainment. Perching a brussels sprout atop a strawberry sundae may prompt squeals of wonder in the Masterchef semi-final but in the world of the Saturday night talent contest it is just annoying no matter how watchable the result.

Just caught up on the first six episodes. The namedropping is pretty awful, as is Danny in general, but it's still watchable. And it should get better in the lives I suppose. I'll probably keep watching til Frances gets eliminated. Would've liked to see Jessica get further...

All of this, especially the last paragraph. Age and appearance have nothing to do with talent and everything to do with commercialism. This is just as fake as the X factor.

They ought to have had top voice coaches or top professional *singers* (like opera singers for example, NOT bloody pop stars) as judges if they genuinely wanted to find the best *voice*. They would be looking for people with genuine vocal ability. Right now, The Voice is just looking for the most marketable popstar (ie best-looking, youngest, best sob story etc) just like the X Factor.

It doesn't feel right watching a Live music show whilst it's sunny outside. It doesn't feel as Live as The X Factor for some reason.

    U2 - Beautiful Day

Like the fact that it only took the 2nd song for them to get to X Factor style staging and judges bickering.

Ruth was incredible! Joelle Tyler and Ruth were my favourites by far.

Ruth. Is. Terrible. Her glory note was flat as fuck.

I'm all for Joelle! What a voice.

Tyler James was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I've reassessed my earlier Dr Bastard viewpoint of him from back in the day. That was great and even though he probably won't win, Will has obviously taken a shine to him, and we'll see and hear more from Tyler soon.
