Not sure if this has been posted on the forum elsewhere, but this is a rather good interview from today's Observer magazine.

That's what they do on all these shows - I'm surprised more people don't comment on it as it makes the sound absolutely awful. You could barely hear her, but that's not exclusive to Cheryl as I'm sure some will try to make out. I think the performance was probably more live than we think, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to bury her so deep in the mix. There were definitely parts where you could tell she was miming though.
Her performance was absolutely immaculate. No one else can do what she does.
Gonna get the energy to wire me close to beautiful robots dancing alone.
Why the fuck is the point of even saying she did sing but her mic was turned low? That's practically miming.
I mean we all knew she would (flashback of Radio 1's big weekend, ugh) but still dire.
I don't care if she mimed, sang to a backtrack or whatsoever... that performance was by any standard simply amazing and the stage dive at the beginning must be the best thing I've seen in a LONG time!
I'd much rather see Cheryls fab dancing with the 'miming' or backing track or whatever it was than her stood still with a fully live vocal (yawn) I'm a pop fan and for me when I see a performance its all about that - the performance. When she stood still with Will.I.Am for 3 Words on her tv show it was one of the most bland things I have ever seen!
Cheryl's performance of the Flood at the Royal Variety says hello.

I'm not fussed about miming, that performance was all kinds of amazing. Seriously, she's such a good dancer.

I keep watching the performance. Its bloody epic. Plus her one dancer, the white guy with the curly mohawk who is always to her right, could get it, hot damn.
i left my heart at the disco and now i'm crying on the metro.
Can't believe there's yet another fuss over miming. She should be applauded for even attempting to sing live and dance like that.
She can dance but yet again her voice and music are as dull as dishwater.
You wanted it, and now you've got it. The latest result of 'The Beyoncé Videos Rate' is now in.
I think she sang to a pre-recorded live track but still, this was an excellent performance, very very good.
Where did I say she wasn't? I was simply replying to her being applauded for the very fact of attempting to sing which is utter bullshit in my opinion. She's a good performer, this was her best performance but she can be very hit and miss so I wouldn't say she is amazing or anything.
There's a lot of hyperbole being thrown around about this performance. I mean, it was really good, but she wasn't dancing as sharply as she could've - it peaked early and the last half was kind of "low impact". People are making it sound like she delivered some Earth-shattering showing or something.
