I will have to see how I feel about the violence part on the whole after I see the full show from beginning to end live . But saying the first part is too violent, I don't know. I love love the opening. Brilliant. As far as Revolver, it has a great beat for a dance song, so I like it in concert, and I don't find the gun pointing offensive. Gang Bang is very dark and definitely violent. I think I will be uncomfortable with it, maybe not like it, but yet still be riveted by it. I'm more offended by Candy Shop and her sugar is raw than violence. Ha-ha. I really liked the I Don't Give A performance. I haven't seen a good clip of Open Your Heart, so I can't comment how I feel about it yet. I have no issue with Masterpiece because I like the song and her vocals on it.
Born This Way will always be related to Madonna, in one way or another, until people forget the song ever existed.
Well, to the general public. But to all Gaga's fans that this song means something to, only in arguments online is Madonna related to it for them. The song itself to them as far as connecting to has nothing to do with Madonna. In that way I feel for Gaga. This song meant something to her and she was/is proud of what it stands for.
Though, this performance/backdrop is about far more than just one song. I think it was about Gaga's heavy use of Madonna as "inspiration."

It'll be a bit of a headache for Gaga regardless. Madonna has had to answer questions about Lady Gaga for months and months, despite being visibly uninterested. Now Gaga is going to be asked about Madonna constantly. In every interview her name will be brought up. It'll be interesting to see how she handles it. I rather think Gaga will be okay, she's thus far refused to be drawn into a battle with anyone, and I don't think she'll dare start with Madonna.
The backdrop with the cans and blind monsters is a fabulous piece of pop genius, isn't it? Madonna isn't controversial for the sake of it. Her best 'shock' moments have always carried an intelligence that virtually every other popstar does not. The Like A Prayer promo video is (for me) one of the most endlessly brilliant moments in pop ever, made infinitely superior by the Pepsi situation surrounding it. I do love MDNA, it isn't a particularly intelligent album, and there's two songs I avoid on it, but the album itself is a strong one. With luck she takes what we're seeing in those clips and her videos/singles are revitalised again. I wasn't a huge fan of the Girls Gone Wild promo, although Give Me All Your Luvin' is a huge personal favourite of mine.

Annie, if you're reading this...please know that I want your EP right now!
The Madonna comparisons have always been apart of Lady Gaga and she's already answered to them, in the form of praise. I doubt it will be much of a headache, if at all, to Gaga. She's upheld her dignity thus far, and I don't see Madonna's PR antics changing that.
Without this forum I never would have caught any of that on the backdrop. It's fascinating, really.
It is pure bitchy brilliance. Despite that, Madonna's singing the song and that's a massive compliment no matter how some Gaga fans take it.

I think it has been a headache to Gaga. When the comparisons started coming heavily this last era, she began to throw a lot of her other idols in. I could tell she was sick of being asked about Madonna; though, she invited it on herself. But I agree, Gaga is not a confrontational type and won't say anything, If her pitbull Elton wasn't sick (I know he went in the hospital), he probably would. Maybe she will cry in an interview if asked. (I hate to be cynical, but Gaga cries a lot about far less than this.) And I doubt Madonna will ever say a word about this performance/backdrop as far as explaining it. On the good side, I bet Born This Way, the single, spikes again in sales during Madonna's tour.
I think it's more about the music industry than about one particular artist. There's a little bit of Madonna in every female popstar. It's like she's saying "you are entertained by this sex selling popstar money making machine and I created* it". It just happened to be Lady Gaga because... well, we all know why.
*for the lack of a better word
Is anyone else totally in love with new version of Open Your Heart? She made the most beautiful recreation of that song that could ever be imagined.
She's performing I'm Addicted barefoot.
I have to say, I don't like MDNA as an album, but I am more than impressed by the tour.
Everything from the staging, the INCREDIBLE tour interludes (my jaw dropped at 'Nobody Knows Me' and 'Justify My Love' / why can't her music videos be like this?), her energy, charisma, and her vocals aren't in terrible shape either, despite the songs on the album suggesting otherwise. It's clear to me that she poured a lot of creative energy into this, and though I wish she channeled some of that into the album, I'm just relieved to see that she still got 'it.'
Plus, from what I've seen so far, there seems to be an actual political message present, and that alone makes it better than 'Sticky and Sweet' -- which was pretty much just Madonna pussy-popping for two straight hours.
...
I can't believe how good Madonna sounds here.

This is great...It appears like she is lipsynching which is a little disappointing but the performance is awesome...that dance breakdown is awesome...and Rocco is all over this concert. He was in the chorus of LIke a Prayer, the close and I think Open your heart too

You guys are probably tired of these videos, but check this out:
Wow, judging from the analysis of the backdrop of Born This Way, she must actually be truly pissed at her younger counterpart...
She looks like a Knight Templar/Joan of Arc at a club in that photo.
