Yes! I'm in and I already have two choices picked out, which are both amazing.

Probably within a day or two. I wanted to have a little time to discuss possible problems with rules before this thing started and rules had to be changed halfway in.

Don't worry though, I'll make sure there'll be some time before the first (admission) deadline.

One thing I did wonder is whether I should allow people to give a preference for a genre, or mention 1 or 2 things they réálly don't like, but it might just complicate things, and I suppose if I make sure everyone gets something different every round, they should survive getting one less great CD every now and then..

I can think of about 5-7 albums in my iTunes that aren't too alternative, but at least 50% will have heard them on here.

I have a shortlist of 5 albums but I think some might be picked by others or are already heard of.

I'm not sure if I should do something about that (if I even could!).
I suppose everyone should just remember that there'll be a new batch every ... weeks, so one month will be greater than the other.
I personally wouldn't massively mind a CD I already know.. would surely make the reviewing easier, and if it's one I don't play loads it might be quite rewarding to give it another shot.

Well, as I mentioned I hope people just go by their guts of 'would I ever discuss this artist or album on here?'. If not it's probably not the most suited choice.
That said, there are rap albums that are popfriendly enough. Not sure about metal though.

I'm fine with that. Just as long as it isn't basically a single with just 1 or 2 b-sides, but a proper EP. (Most of the times defined by not being named after it's main song which already appeared on another album)

Basically your first suitability test should be searching the artist name here. Have they been discussed? How much? In what ways?

If the other three minutes of the music video isn't music then the song, definitely. The idea of the playlist, in my view, is to start it and let it run - dead time in a video isn't going to help in getting into an album.

To answer a question Itty Bitty Piggy just PMed: kinda alternative artists who technically make pop but don't get discussed a whole lot on here are still perfectly fine for this. It would be hard to find an album by an act that gets discussed lóáds, yet has material not everyone knows though and through.
I'd say pretty much all the 500+ acts that made the Ultimate Compilation list are suited.
The whole idea of this, besides hopefully discovering some great new music, is listening to things you otherwise might never bother to give a shot!

I was torn about this topic as well.. part of me thinks it might be more suited for the 'lists' section, but then this topic is going to be discussing several albums, and there won't really be any 'lists', so it did feel more Pop&Justice to me (unless that subforum is mainly for News.. I can't really tell myself..)

If it involves popstars I wouldn't say Off Topic. If it's 'name likeable popstars' it's more of a List thing I suppose.. it depends on the angle, really.
