I really enjoy listening to the majority of the album. The only two tracks I'm not keen on are "Naked Love" and "Never Close Our Eyes". I was particularly disappointed with NCOE as I thought the live performance he did on American Idol was very good.
Did anyone go to his G-A-Y gig last night?!
Kinda disappointed in the amount of backing vocals to be honest. I couldn't distinguish his live vocal over the track most of the time. What I don't understand is why Naked Love wasn't first single. It's an absolute Dr Luke smash.
So, I finally have my thoughts together about this album.
Favorites: Never Close Our Eyes, Kickin' In, Pop That Lock, Outlaws of Love, Runnin' (possibly my number one)
Least Favorites: Trespassing (I'm not sure why, it's not bad), Better Than I Know Myself, and Broken English
It's a very strong album that deserves multiple hits. I have no idea why they'd lead with one of the weakest songs.
The Disney Girls.
The album was pushed back from April (I believe) so I'm guessing the reason for this was to add/write/produce stronger songs. My theory is that the album planned for April had most of the bonus/deluxe tracks on the main album.
So do we think that there could be another single, or is this the end? Never Close Our Eyes is completely flopping, and if that song can't sell, then I don't know what could.
I was surprised his debut got to where it did in the chart here, the radio here seems to ignore him. He's screwed, basically.

Never Close Our Eyes >>>
Underneath is great aswell. I actually like most of the songs on this, it's a really good album.
Never Close Our Eyes is smashing on UK iTunes at the moment ( well at no 14)
Good considering Radio 1 are ignoring it (they don't seem to play the gays anymore)
I'm glad it's becoming a hit somewhere.
I just don't get what went wrong. This should have been his biggest hit worldwide! I thought the Bruno Mars co-write would've at least helped it garner some buzz.
I'm so glad he's doing well with it! I think he could really get a decent fanbase started here in the UK.
Bruno Mars' co-writes are so hidden though, I didn't even realise he penned 'Forget You' until recently!
It's so bizarre that this is being a decent hit in the UK - the country which basically slept on For Your Entertainment, If I Had You and even Whataya Want From Me. This is his least deserving single to launch him here, but whatever, it's good that it's being a hit.
With radio not really behind him in the US, it's going to be a mission to get a decent charting single from the album. I'll just say this again - Cuckoo, Outlaws of Love and Runnin' are flawless, and deserve to be heard. I'm not sure if any could be a 'hit' though.
Supposedly his album is at #3 in the UK midweeks? How did THAT happen?!
The single is at #12...
Leaving out hideous expressions like 'Kelendria' (who even is that?) would be a good start. - Someboy re: Kelly Rowland's birth name
I'm not sure which version to buy. I'm not feeling any of the bonus tracks on the deluxe edition (on my initial stream), but perhaps they're growers? Loving the main body of the album though.
Runnin' is in my Top 3 for this album so I'd purchase the deluxe edition just for that. I don't really care for Take Back and Nirvana though.
The UK deluxe has two more tracks though, By the Rules and Map, so I'll have to find those!
Great! I'm glad he is finally getting some recognition in the UK.
I don't think he did any promo in the UK for FYE though, for Trespassing he's down a few TV interviews and performed at G-A-Y etc. There's a reporter who has been writing a small paragraph about Adam/Trespassing almost every sunday in the Daily Mirror too! Literally plugging it to death!
The whole Queen thing may have helped as well.

Yeah, the Deluxe version is worth it for 'Runnin'. One of the best things he's ever recorded.
With FYE, he did have quite a bit of promo planned, but the Icelandic volcano disrupted his flights. However, he did come back and did a fair bit of TV - MTV live, Studio Five, GMTV, Teen Nick Awards, G-A-Y.
The charts are pretty quiet at the moment though (all the big releases are pretty much held back in anticipation for the last quarter sales surge), so he's taking good advantage of that.
So, Trespassing is going to be the next single from the album. Very bad choice if you ask me, its a good song but its just not single material, I can't see it being played in the UK at all, Naked Love or Cuckoo would have been much better choices.

Oh dear. Final nails in the coffin with that single choice I fear.

I've only just listened to this album and I have to say that's a terrible choice for the next single. Naked Love, Shady or Cuckoo would have been better choices. 'Trespassing' works in that first track, grab-your-attention sort of way (similar to 'Music Again' from FYE, but not as good) but I don't believe it works as a single. Especially when he struggled somewhat with the first two singles.
I'm guessing he wants to move away from just releasing all the commerical sounding songs on the album? i must admit I was surprised he went for such a mainstream dance sound for some of the songs, but hey, if its what he wants to do then I'm happy for him. Maybe releasing Trespassing will attract some new fans?

I think nothing at this point will save the album, so his label was like "Alright, just pick whatever you want for the next single."
'Cuckoo', 'Outlaws of Love' and even 'Runnin' could have all been great singles choices, but, of course, this had to be the single. It's so frustrating, just like the promotion of the whole era.
I get the feeling, now, more than ever, that Adam, his management and his label have absolutely no idea what kind of artist he is. Is he a ridiculous, over-the-top, flamboyant King of Dancepop, or is he a moody, slightly gothic baladeer... or as is sometimes alluded to, a spunky rockstar set to be the heir to Freddie Mercury's throne?
It's just so strange. I love countless songs by him, and he is undeniably a phenomenal vocalist, but I just can't buy into him as 'an artist' because I have no idea what the hell kind of artist he is.
