Thread: Weekend

I saw this last night and was blown away.

This film is one of the first to show a true image of what it's like to be gay in the western world in the 21th century. (I thought so anyway.)

I was a bit bummed out by the ending though since nothing much changed from the beginning.
    But AMAZING.

    ANYWAY!

If you haven't seen it, GO SEE IT! (or watch the trailer first : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GYFIwAURH4)
If you have, do share your thoughts.

I saw it today. Great British film and good too see my university city Nottingham on camera.

I was hoping to see this but it's apparently only showing in 11 cinemas in the UK.

I was a bit on edge watching this film, too many predators in the screen. I liked it, it was good but not amazing. I had a feeling it was set in Nottingham and the station bit at the end reaffirmed that. The film reminded me of giving backies when I was younger, hated that.

    Wow. That trailer was gorgeous.

I sense this film could be a tearjerker.

Oh goodness, I sat alone in the theatre during the credits and sobbed. That might partially be because I added a bit of vodka to my cherry coke but it's mostly because the movie is really fantastic. So subtle and realistic, it could practically pass as a documentary. The acting is really stunning...though I too was a bit disappointed by the ending.

The song that plays during the credits (Marz by John Grant) was too perfect in the moment. I was weeping.

I've seen 8 films so far this fall and this one is my favourite of all of them...I hope more people will go and see it.

I enjoyed this film. Tom Cullen who plays Russell was in Black Mirror tonight too.

    *SPOILER*

My favourite part was when they were on the bed and Glen asked Russell to pretend that he was his dad and to come out to him, really sweet.

Finally saw this tonight. Just a really well done, sweet, lovely, captivating movie.

(Robert, I agree with you. It was the strangest thing -- in that moment, this foreign watery liquid began leaking from my eyes.)

For posters in the US, this is streaming on Netflix. You have no excuse not to watch this, it's really a lovely film.

I really liked that it was so political, without being didactic or preachy or anything other than totally naturalistic.

I don't condone piracy but it seems that this film has leaked on the internet.

You really have no excuse anymore to not watch this.

I'm re-watching it and really falling in love all over again.

This really was one of the best movies released last year.

So funny, human, real.....one of the only truly great gay films out there.

I always fast forward to the scene on the train platform, and I think... this will be the time I finally figure out what they're saying the whole time. But like Bob and Charlotte in Lost in Translation, sometimes it's better not to know.

I'm really hoping it comes out on DVD here in the States.

I follow them both on Twitter and they talk about all these other great projects they're doing, and I'm like.... no, no, no. You're Glen and Russ forever, you realize that, right?

    Ha.

That's the reason I don't follow them on Twitter.
I like to keep the reality of the movie.

The movie will come out on DVD in the States. Sundance bought it so they will surely release it on their DVD-label (Sundance Selects).

I cried at the end. Again.

Only because I feel like I'm at the same point in my life.
    It's very close to home.

I'm downloading this because literally every gay guy I met in London told me to watch it and how amazing it was, and you guys here as well. If I'm a sobbing miserable mess at the end of the night, I'm blaming ya'll!

  18. #18
It broke my heart. So real it hurts.

  19. #19
    I was underwhelmed, completely.
Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful?

  20. #20
    Aw.

    I'm sorry for you, boo.

A few of my friends felt the same.
    Others loved it.

    What else is new.

  21. #21
I'm halfway through it but I can't watch it anymore. It's way too close to home. Too real.
I might finish it later on, but first I need wine.

Just finished watching this film. That was a great scene.

Just watched it. Really a good movie.

Oh I'm glad to hear they'll be releasing this on DVD in the States/Canada...though I can't seem to find a date anywhere. I hope it's soon, this is a movie I will be buying multiple copies of (because I will be lending it out and gifting it, etc.)

I've watched it 4 times now and it leaves me breathless every time - I just love it.

This is such a great movie for this quiet lonely nights in. Reminds you there's always a chance for love, even in the most, well, hopeless place!
