All of Alanis Morisettes Ironic.
I don't care if it's not technically ironic.
"Spit ya fluidest, Bitch..."
It's pretty much perfect. The acoustic re-recording was unnecessary, even if it does give us the "meeting the man of your dreams, then meeting his beautiful husband" line.
To be honest, most of Jagged Little Pill is perfect.
"Spit ya fluidest, Bitch..."
I tend to stand by the theory that the irony lies in writing a song called "Ironic" whose individual lyrics are terrible examples of irony. She clearly sings the song with some ambiguity - "And isn't it ironic, don't you think?" instead of some iteration of "I think this is ironic". And when she does say "and yeah I really do think" in the bridge it's blatantly sarcastic.Originally Posted by Itty Bitty Piggy

Björk - All Neon Like
Not 'til you halo all over me
I'll come over
Not 'til it shimmers 'round your skull
I'll be yours
I weave for you
The marvellous web
Glow in the dark threads
All neon like
The cocoon surrounds you
Embraces all
So you can sleep
Foetus-style
And they will assist us
'Cause we're asking for help
And the luminous beam
It feeds you,
Henh-yeah!, henh-yeah
The soft distortion
Fills you up
Nourish nourish
Your turtleheart
And they will assist us
'Cause we're asking for help
And the luminous beam
It feeds you
Henh-yeah!, yeah!
Don't get angry with yourself
Don't, don't get angry with yourself
I'll heal you
With a razorblade
I'll cut a slit open
And the luminous beam
Feeds you honey, heals you
\"I want to go on a mountain-top with a radio and good batteries and play a joyous tune and free the human race..!\"
I find myself flirting with the verge of obscene
Into the unknown, I will be bold
I’m going to places I can be out of control
Britney - Touch Of My Hand
Whenever Alison Goldfrapp sings
How can I love you so
when I know
you don't love me?
in Eat Yourself I get goosebumps allover, even after many, many repeated listens. It's so beautifully sad.

The whole song "Jolene" (in Jack White's voice).
Mel B - Feels So Good
I know how I want you
I know how I need you
Together we'll always be
Ever after happily
Feeling free you and me
No one can touch us now
That is how it's got to be
Especially the bold bit.
"I wanna just dance but he took me home instead
Uh oh, there was a monster in my bed
We French kissed on a subway train
He tore my clothes right off
He ate my heart then he ate my brain"
- Lady Gaga, Monster
I appreciate self-referencing so much.
You can fall if you want to
It's just a matter of how far
You've treasured our hometown
But forgotten where you are
And it will stay with you
'Til your mind's been found
And it has been found
Wandering around
With that skipping rope, that trampoline
That crafty smoke that made us choke
Oh we didn't give up hope
It's the simple ways
Of getting paid
The carelessness of running away
Oh, wish I stayed
He's my sun; he makes me shine like diamonds.
This will never end cause I want more.
More, give me more, give me more.
If I Had a Heart - Fever Ray
Tell me who I have to be / To get some reciprocity from Lauryn Hill's "Ex-Factor".
Also the contrast between "No one loves you more than me/And no one ever will" and "No one's hurt me more than you/And no one ever will".
I envy the wind
That whispers in your ear
That howls through the winter
That freezes your fingers
That moves through your hair
And cracks your lips
And chills you to the bone
I envy the wind
I envy the rain
That falls on your face
That wets your eyelashes
And dampens your skin
And touches your tongue
And soaks through your shirt
And drips down your back
I envy the rain
I envy the sun
That brightens your summer
That warms your body
And holds you in her heat
And makes your days longer
And makes you hot
And makes you sweat
I envy the sun
Born to run, get ahead of the rest.
The best bit of that is the 'aw I'm gunna get a littul soft 'n' smoocheh' line. I do love the song though.Originally Posted by Fire
