    AMAZING! For a second there...

Hmmm last to play, last to be announced. Seems like some favouritism for them no? Not that I care, haha.

I loved that the selection process was ruthless like Tyra Banks was about to scream at Latvia full on Tiffany style.

All my favourites are through. Well done, Europe.

I would have thought the Russian Grannies would have been left until last, they've been ruling twitter.

A fairly mixed bag there... My two favourites (Switzerland and Belgium) didn't get through, but at least the patriotic side of me is pacified. Couldn't bear for Ireland to go back to not qualifying again.

    Interesting...

    What do you mean Duffy?

Did the lady who announced the results compete a few years ago? I seem to remember her shaking what her momma gave her in a glitzy dress...

God I hate all this semi-final nonsense. If I watch them they ruin the main night and if I avoid them I miss out on some great songs. I also hate the idea of the "big 5". Every act should start on a level playing field.

I reckon he'll be showing his PhD to Mr Mills tonight...

Just a quick look, and a country has only ever qualified once before for the final after placing 11th in the running order in a semi final. I don't think Loreen's got this in the bag on Thursday just yet, sadly.

Well, I just put money on Cyprus at 33-1.

Not that this is a betting site, but I could see their song winning - and nothing else I saw tonight fit the same bill.

Hurray for Cyprus! I was practically eating my cushion until they were announced, good on you Ivi now just get a decent placing for Saturday and bring the house down!

90% right Europe - what the fuck is Albania doing in the final?

The Russian Grannies have got this in the bag haven't they sadly?

EDIT: I NEED to find the PhD man, he has to be my husband - that is all...

I think that's more coincidence than anything else. Obviously nothing is certain, but since two semifinals were introduced, few favorites have missed out on the final completely, and tonight just confirmed that.

Saturday is a whole other matter though. Everybody starts from zero the moment Engelbert gets up on that stage and kicks things off.
Born to run, get ahead of the rest.

No surprises with the results apart from Albania which was a great performance if you could tolerate the screaming.

It turned to a complete car crash everytime someone spoke. All three hosts being dreadful, Sara Cox introducing guests as "some people", the attempt at interviewing Jedward, "Are we on?", Sara's 5 second interview with Loreen, Nina Zilli using the question of "How's Baku" to go on a socialist rant while Scott Mills glistened with sweat, The Hump answering every question with some form of "I am not answering" and the most awkward speech ever from the Eurovision supervisor guy.

Poor Ivi will be singing 8th in the final and the Grannies are 6th. Jedward have one of the pimp slots again (23rd).

Moldova and Albania are a joke. I'm always surprised at how such utter shit gets through.

I knew that Albanian act-of-war would go through; it just has that "shouldn't but will" thing about it. My dog even sat bolt upright when she began really wailing.

I thought Moldova was sweet; funny dancing and an oompah-oompah Paolo Nutini schtick.

I quite liked the Albanian one in a Adele turns into Bjork kind of way. There's far worse in the competition.
Replying with GIFs is like arguing with a tree - really boring.

For instance Belgium and Switzerland? Dreadfully mediocre.

I'm completely into the Russian babushki, but I want Greece to win, only to give the country a glimmer of hope (and a 50-million-euros bill to pay when they have to host ESC 2013, but they'll manage).

What a load of garbage. I'm ecstatic! All of my favourites got through except poor Valentina. WE WILL NOT FORGET. Hosting was hilariously bad but the Big 5 preview really showed how far above the rest Anggun and Nina are. EXCITED for Thursday.

I was hoping that Trackshittas would go through for Austria.

  24. #449
I remember Charley (pre or post exclamation mark loss?! Who knows) posting about the Trackshittaz song ages ago but I never listened. I can confirm that it most definitely IS what you'd expect a Trackshittaz song to sound like. A bit surprised (not overly disappointed!) to see it fail to qualify.
