Just seen Italy's first rehersal, I think i'm giving them my dark horse ticket, she sounded pretty on it on the vocals and the presentation is simple but affective.
Eurovision is a microcosm of society today, WITH SEQUINS!!!

Love this Titanium-esque remix of Nina Badric's (Croatia) Nebo - I'm not really sure why the original isn't getting more love on the interweb! It's a perfect Eurovision ballad.

Just watched Loreen's second rehearsal. She's still my favourite by a country mile. Everything is right. The song, the vocal, the fact that it's just her on stage dancing for 2 and a half minutes and THAT CHORUS. It's Eurovision, so normal rules just don't apply, but I'd really love this to win. It would be my favourite winner in years.

Well Engelbert has improved massively on the second rehearsal. The 2 biggest notes were off-key the first time, but he's nailed it now!

It may be the worst draw possible, but this is a cracking way to open the show, he'll do us proud...

Couldn't agree more. It diminshes the action completely and takes the viewer out of the moment when they should be left agog at what they've just seen. I want people going, "Bloody hell, that was amazing!" not "Bloody h... ooh... cool effect!"

Apparently Inna was asked to represent Romania without having to compete in a national final, but she declined because of tour commitments.

  7. #357
    Oh, Inna. Maybe someday.

On the Loreen topic, what I don't understand is... they nailed the timing of the ending both times she performed in the semifinal, but strangely once they added the effect, they were also totally off both times at Globen, so in my eyes it's almost doubly worse. She needs to be back on the stage on that final "Up," slow motion descent or not. And yes, I realize I have nothing better to do during Eurovision week than be picky like this.

They even build national museum of Azerbaijan's performances at Eurovision (yes, museum for four performances!). The costs are very high.
Who cares about human rights? Since when is Belarus participating in Eurovision? Nobody ever bothered to deny them access. Europe gets what it wants: 3 evenings of entertainment...

That slow motion effect is total shithouse and should be banned from her flawless performance, I don't know whose idea was to include that crappy, non synched crap.

Spain is quickly gaining media attention thanks to their rehearsal, I'd be worried if I were my dear Loreen at the moment. The number of comments at the Eurovision page are INSANE compared to others.
This is my life, my friend.

To be fair, the Spanish rehearsals have both been genuinely incredible. If the Eurovision thing doesn't work out, she should translate the song to English and continue where Leona Lewis left off.

Still don't think enough people are going to vote for a ballad sung in Spanish though.

I love the Turkish media trying to pair up Eleftheria with the Turkish dude romantically. It's cute.

Am I being thick as fuck here, but what is this slow motion effect you're all talking about? I don't get it. Can someone point me in the direction of the before and after please?

I know it's a subtle variation, and it's not like she does a backflip offstage now which she hadn't at the start, but it's just different enough to be weird for me. (And let me emphasize that I am well aware of the tragic level of nitpicking that is occurring on my watch right now.)

Paulandcolin - I hadn't spotted the effect either! Agreed, it's pretty pants, but really I don't think it makes much difference.

With a lot of strong contenders coming through, this whole thing is getting a lot more exciting! At least we should get some riveting voting now.

The slow motion is so stupid. The speed of it in the original video is amazing. What a random change.

I've been really behind this year and haven't followed it much, but from quick flicks through the entries, I like Hungary the most (Compact Disco - Sound Of Our Hearts) and I think the girl with the ridiculous Native American outfit is going to win.
Replying with GIFs is like arguing with a tree - really boring.

YES! Sadly, my country is not taking part so I'll watching it on web. Stil exciting!

Why is Sara Cox back this year? She seems to hate herself for doing this as much as the rest of do. (I know, I could watch the RTÉ coverage, but adverts.)

I'm in hysterics with those presenters.

  22. #372
What a crap song to kick off with.

  23. #373
OK, Montenegrin entry is basically a scene from Polish wedding. Drunk distan uncle rambling about politics while orchestra still plays.

Montenegro's song was like an even worse version of Loca People.
