Does anyone here get a strange sense of déjà-vu when listening to the chorus of Running Scared? That opening line with the sudden high note in the middle reminds me of a song which has the very same rhythm and a quite similar melody.

I'd say it was by a female singer, between 5 or 10 years ago but I might be completely wrong about that. Not sure if it was in English or in French though, which might be make things tricky for most people here.

For those who don't have the song in mind, it's on YT :

    Thanks.

I doubt this is what you're looking for, but the "Cause I adore you"-part basically quotes Someone New by Eskobar and Heather Nova: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rayIckOBmo

Nope. Sadly not. But thanks for making guesses. I'll keep searching.

I actually browsed Twitter tonight to see what people said after Azerbaijan sang, and many people had a strong sense of having heard that melody before.

    Songs mentioned are :
    - Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush
    - Last Goodbye by Atomic Kitten (I thought that was it for a while)
    - Paper Cranes by Fingertips (didn't know that one)

    I'm still searching though.

Well, I was thinking quite the same as you, and I came up with this one:
Free Loop by Daniel Powter. Is this the one you had in mind?

The repeated 'oh' thing reminds me a bit of the chorus melody in the Kate Nash song 'Merry Happy'.

Because it has the word 'Running' in the title? I don't hear it at all. The Twits are grasping at straws I think....

Or maybe not. 'Running Up That Hill' was used for an '80s BBC Childrens drama thriller called.... 'Running Scared'. Perhaps that's what they were 'hearing'. I certainly did.
