Ah! I bought it on vinyl at the time, which had the warmer tint, so I didn't take much notice of the CD originally (not many Our Prices stocked it anyway, if memory serves, CD was still a niche market even then). I found it about 2 years ago for £2 in a used store, and thought it was about time I had it on CD.

Supreme Records did a colour CD cover too, that's the one I have. The B&W one seems to be the most common version though. My vinyl LP is B&W, I don't think I ever saw the colour version of that in my neck of the woods.

I've never seen a colour 1987 UK CD on Supreme before. It's not on Discogs.com (where there are 23 different pressings) so I'd love to see it. The LP, cassette and CD released in the UK should all have the same artwork, ie. grey colour scheme.

Well, just on here we've got both colour/B&W vinyl and CD variations for the original release!

    Here's my CD:

The EMI re-issue was the same, but I don't think it had the Compact Disc logo on the front. I don't think they ever did a colour cassette cover, but have no idea why they did them for the LP & CD.

Is it my imagination or is the "FLM" in red, not quite in the same place as usual?!

The original CDs were like that. The LP and the Cherry Pop re-issue had it centred.

New albums by Dexys and Ultravox, plus the Colourbox set from amazon because I can't find it in any HMV and it looks like being a hard-to-find item already (even amazon have a three week wait!).

It's like 1986 all over again.

Cold Specks - I Predict A Graceful Expulsion (CD)
Talk Talk - History Revisited (CD)

Depeche Mode - Violator (12" promo)
    Yello - The 12" Collection (6 x 12" yellow vinyl box)
Academy - Tonight (The World Keeps Swinging) (12" - lost 80s pop!)

@Fish Finger - Thanks for the FLM scan! Never seen that version before, so I suspect that is a rarer pressing. I have the 'Black & White' one. I've actually only just noticed it's not even the same photo. I always thought it was the same shot, just in colour/sepia, but the photos are slightly different!

@Eric Generic - I was reading elsewhere that 4AD are actually doing very limited runs of their releases these days and not repressing like they used to. Remember the 4AD catalogue? And the Mute Bank one, too? They were these massive mail order things you could get in the 90s and order any release the label had put out...they were works of art in their own right. Anyway, long gone are those days. Seems 4AD are finally skint.

Hmm, I wonder if I'll even get my order then! I know Mute/4AD were badly hit by that mega fire in London during the riots, they lost tons of product in that blaze.

Today I had a browse through a CD stall in a market, and came away with some brilliantly rubbish early 90s singles that I've wanted for my Singles Log project, and the Tony Banks & Fish collaboration on CD at last. Only took 25 years to find it.

What's your thoughts on the Dexys lp ? Saw them live and they played it in full. So I've been waiting patiently for it since then. I love it. My only reservation being the female vocalist with all the staged grunts, they irritate me - no need to over-egg it, just sing properly. And I think they will get worse over more listens. But it's an awesome album, I wouldn't use the forbidden 'concept' word - so I'd say it's a story in the same way that 'A Grand Don't Come For Free' is a story lp.

I bought the Dexys album totally blind, as I often do with either my favourite acts or albums that have been so long coming that my curiosity gets the better of me. 26 years....no, 27!....without a new album since Don't Stand Me Down was too long. I didn't even manage to catch their Later.. appearance the other week, which would have given me at least an idea of what to expect. So when I do eventually settle down to give it a listen, it'll be all brand new to me! The sleeve is pretty cool (I assume the statuesque lady on the front is this over-egging new singer, ha), and the one review I did read about it, whetted my appetite as no Dexys record is ever free of the occasional flicker, oops I mean folly...

Are those all CD-singles? I love getting 80s and early 90s CD-singles. I found two dozen more today! Stuff I've never even seen before, or not since they were new releases at the time (1988/89).

I love it too! What did you get?

Yes all CD singles. I'm still a novice, I am just exhausting all the Amazon options so far. I just do searches like "1987 CD single" and my recent obsession "CD Video Single" and go from there!

Was very pleased to get "I Want Your Sex" and "Dressed For Success" on CD single for about £7 each as they were always showing at ridiculous amounts like £100....

  18. #1143
I had no idea I Want Your Sex CD-single was worth anything! Mine cost £1 in a used store (I'd had the cassingle since 1987).

    My haul included:

Human League - Love Action/Hard Times 3" CD
Scritti Politti - First Boy In This Town
Fleetwood Mac - Hold Me 3"
Neneh Cherry - Inna City Mama 3"
Robert Plant - Heaven Knows 3"
    Level 42 - Take A Look
June Montana - I Need Your Love 3" (Baby Cylde will be pleased!)

    ...and 17 others.....haha.

Well things are only worth what you will pay for them! "I Want Your Sex" probably isn't worth much but if the only way I can get it is on Amazon anything under £10 is fine by me!

I just got "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" CD single for £5 after longingly gazing at it for months at £20.....

Speaking of Level 42, I am tempted to get "Running In The Family" on CD Video single. Even though I'm only mildly interested in the single, I have at least heard of it and I am slightly obsessed with that format....

Have you got a CD-V player though? I once sold a Bucks Fizz CD-V for £70, which I bought for £1 in a charity shop.
Replying with GIFs is like arguing with a tree - really boring.

  22. #1147
No I don't have a CD-V player that would just be bonkers!

I just liked a few of the songs on CDV and carried on buying... My favourites are "Heartache" Pepsi & Shirlie, the Bananarama ones, "Ain't Nothing Going On But The Rent" Gwen Guthrie and "Breakout" Swing Out Sister. Wouldn't mind the "Papa Don't Preach" one but not seen it on sale anywhere and I would probably need to sell a kidney.....

I nearly bought a Level 42 CD-V in the Virgin Megastore back in '87..."It's Over". Must have been about 5.99. Just liked the idea of having a new format, but couldn't really justify it!

Today's purchases. Was especially pleased to find the Peaches, Jordin and No Angels albums for 1 Euro and Demi's for 3.

Just got Melanie Fiona's first album. Why on earth has it taken me this long to decide I wanted this? It's borderline brilliant! I hope her second one is as good...
