Obsessions was the first Marina song I heard and it was the song that made me fall in love. Then I heard Mowgli's Road and I became a real fan.
To whoever suggested Are You Satisfied? as her definitive song though... no.

Are You Satisfied? pretty much summarizes what Marina is all about in one song. It's basically manic-depressive Primadonna waking up in the morning make-upless after crying herself to sleep the night before.

Yeah, I don't understand why everyone seems to hate it either. 'Shampain' is a shimmery synthpop gem, with incredible lyrics and a chorus that refuses to budge once it's lodged itself in your brain.

Fans hate it?! I've never heard a bad word about it. Praying for all those people who hate it. At one of the Marina shows I went to a fan dressed up as a "Shampain" bottle and rightfully got recognition from Marina during the show.

Shampain was the stand-out when I saw her pre-Family Jewels. But then so was Girls, so what do I know.

Are You Satisfied? is not my favourite song of Marina, but somehow it feels very definite. And it pretty much is her artistic ethos, the whole thing.
Numb hit me like a ton of bricks during finals week last semester. It's such a show stopper.
I used to consider Electra Heart far and away the better album, but I think it has higher highs while The Family Jewels is more consistent. Nothing aside from Obsessions or Oh No! touches Lies or Starring Role, but there's also nothing quite as average as Living Dead or Hypocrates.
