Gwen's two albums are wildly inconsistent but there's great moments on them. Her Harajuku Girls concept was a bit dodgy, she couldn't even identify them properly on CD:UK! I prefer her with No Doubt. We need more bands with strong female leads. Everyone wants to be solo these days. What happened to women picking up guitars and being amazing?
Annie, if you're reading this...please know that I want your EP right now!

I do miss 'girl rock' too. I honestly miss anything that isn't 'dance pop'.

I really thought L.A.M.B was flawless until Long Way to Go. Sweet Escape is a totally different story, but at least she didn't play it safe I suppose. I wish she'd had some bigger singles from it; the material was there for a strong five-single run.

How We Do is a really, really good song though. That two part chorus is a killer. I'm hoping that it becomes the Summer Song of 2012 (well, that and Anna Sun).
So if you're lonely, you know I'm here waiting for you...

L.A.M.B is one of my favourite albums, Sweet Escape was alright, it was basically songs left over from the first album wasn't it? I think a fair few of them didn't make the tracklisting for very obvious reasons.

Bubble Pop Electric is the greatest non-single ever.

Bubble Pop Electric is pretty much perfect.

And Wind It Up is a big guilty pleasure of mine.
    Balance dad mysterious.

Mine from that album is Yummy. Lord, I live for that ending breakdown.

Also, Lea Michele's cover of Won't Give Up is about a million times better than Jason Mraz's original.

Between LAMB and The Sweet Escape lies an album of epic proportions. Individually they're a bit of a mess though, particularly the latter.

If 'How We Do' is the song of Summer 2012 I may have to stay inside for three months and live life as a hermit.

Anyway: Fuck, Same Difference's 'We R One' is amazing! They're offensively shit in every way yet this song is so amazing!? Argh!
    "Ardent Rihanna mud-slinger"

Going to try to get into Vanessa Williams music. Save the Best for Last is one of the best 90 songs but other than that and colors of wind I know none of her stuff.

Ooh interesting. Her last album was shit though haha.

Kris Allen's new album is so so much better than his first one.

The new Far East Movement album is amazing, especially the songs with Cover Drive and Natalia!

I'm so happy The Ess Oh Vee is planning her next album. I hope one of the songs is a Kreayshawn diss. Sad Ass Strippa is the high standard she has to top. It can be done!

I couldn't agree more. It's literally lightyears better than the first one.

Has anyone listened to Icona Pop's new single "I Love It" ?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxxajLWwzqY

It came up on Pitchfork and it's divine. Probably because they're Swedish.

    Enjoy and your welcome.

It's literally IMPOSSIBLE for me to listen to Fuck Up The Fun without being like this:

The whole thing is just a CARNIVAL for your ass, isn't it?
Yeah because Lady Gaga is the only pop star of this generation to have an iconic anthematic song. California Gurls says hi. *Eye roll*

Dear Lord, jinzo! I'm glad I'm not one of those PJ 'work-surfers', otherwise I may have had some explaining to do...

'Wind It Up' is a HUGE guilty pleasure of mine too. I know I shouldn't like it, but I can't help myself...!

Also (and I guess this extends to people in general), but I find the public's perceptions of celebrities to be very interesting. Or, put differently, how some celebrities manage to come across as being incredibly likeable, and how some don't. The Alexandra Burke thread got me thinking about this (I actually do like Alexandra Burke, for the record) - it gets you wondering on whether celebrities build different personalities depending on the circumstance etc. Well, of course they do - obviously everyone does that to a degree, but it seems to be that the celebrities who come across as being something closer to 'themselves' for most of the time generally come off as being more likeable.

Well, unless they are completely awful people, through and through. But there are probably countless celebrities who are not as happy/good-natured as Alexandra Burke, yet are liked a lot more by the general public, just because (for example) they seem to be 'hamming it up' less.

For instance, there is just something about Kelly Clarkson which is just so damn likeable. She just comes across as being unbelievably lovely and funny, but moreover, she also gives off a sense that she would be like that with camera switched off too. I know that personalities are an extremely complex thing, more so when you take the opinions of others into account, but it would appear that some people just seem to have an (almost!) blanket 'je ne sais quoi' about their personalities that makes (almost!) everybody like them. Kelly being one of those people. In my humble opinion, of course.
The capital 'E' means I'm 'bout that life.

'Hummingbird Heartbeat' is amazing, it encapsulates the whole album perfectly. Why was it never released as a single?
I'm about to drown in the ocean.

  21. #9921
I like the early Madonna/Cyndi Lauper vibes during the verses of Hummingbird Heartbeat, but I actually wish she'd taken more of a risk and released Circle The Drain.
    "Spit ya fluidest, Bitch..."

  22. #9922
That would have been brilliant (especially as Hummingbird Heartbeat would have been horrific as a single). Bonus balls points if she did a Birthday Cake and lifted Travie's verse from This Is How It Goes Down to use in some capacity. The "I've been going down down down the drain" part could have been written for it, like.

Is it just me, or is it not a bit strange that this year's "go to" graduation song is about domestic violence? Like seriously, kids...

The radio mix of Parachute is so much more flawless than the album version.
Up is where we go from here.

Anyone have some 90's (or later that sound like 90's) electronica reccomendations?
Sort of like Swim from Ray of Light, y'know? Not really danceable but lots of cool, bubbly synths. Or even dark synths. I'm desperate and to be honest slightly tired of pop.
You took my heartbeat from me, this is the saddest story
