I actually prefer Mumford & Sons' slower songs. The entire back half of the album is glorious, and "After The Storm" is devastating.

Do you know what I really don't get ? How people seem to think Simon Cowell is some kind of all-powerful musical overlord. This applies to people who like X Factor/Pop Music as much as those that dislike.
e.g That Keane story on the front page where they said to the NME , we're living in the "Simon Cowell Generation" and everyone seems to come from a TV show.
I don't get how this happened, the output of the X Factor , is by and large HEAVILY influenced by whatever's popular/whatever will sell. To be living in a "Simon Cowell Generation" he'd have to be influencing the music, which he's clearly not, he's following every trend there is.
He's also pretty terrible at it. As evidenced by the failure of nearly EVERY X Factor winner, I mean look at Leona ? Does ANYONE know what's going on there ?
In short, I don't believe Simon Cowell is the smart businessman and tastemaker people make him out to be.
He ripped off Simon Fuller anyway.

While im in the thread remember THIS, such a flawless timeless song.
I totally agree RE: Simon Cowell. Music wise, he's pretty much just capitalised on a bunch of novelty acts, Robson & Jerome, the Teletubbies and a slew of X Factor one hit wonders have hardly changed the musical landscape.
He was partly here for Cher Lloyd, though that was more Cheryl's doing.
But yeah, I get what you mean, he hasn't actually done all too much. He just has the personality, the putdowns, the authority. LA Reid kicks his arse when it comes to credentials, but doesn't have the same TV charisma.
Yeah because Lady Gaga is the only pop star of this generation to have an iconic anthematic song. California Gurls says hi. *Eye roll*
He was MORE than here for Cher, Don't know how he got her right, but maybe that was more Redone's , Max Martin's and her own doing like you said.
Infact, they made a big mistake in realeasing Swagger Jagger first (as amazing as it is) it seems to have permanently put people off her.
Here's what Jordin Sparks should do: re-record "No Air" with someone other than Chris Brown and give the proceeds to a domestic violence resource center. It'd be a win-win. She'd get some good publicity and I would get a version of that blissful song without that creep on it.
So if you're lonely, you know I'm here waiting for you...
She should have done With Ur Love first...definitely. I think Cher was in a similar kind of position to Gaga and Born This Way. There was a message that needed to be put out there first, a #clapback to all the naysayers.
Simon definitely egged her along, but yeah- they're all accountable to her success. It would have been interesting to see Cher under Simon's mentoring!

Girls Aloud's Love Bomb is such an underappreciated little gem, cha cha cha!
Up is where we go from here.
One of my biggest wishes for 2012 in pop is that Girls Aloud's comeback lead single turns out to be at least half as good as Gossip's Move In The Right Direction, Xenomania's best production since... you guessed it...the Girls' last single.
Girls Aloud's comeback single is possibly the most anticipated single release this side of the next GaGa lead and will potentially send the forum into a complete meltdown, either way. My expectations are probably so enormous that disappointment is inevitable.
"Ardent Rihanna mud-slinger"
For me, the anticipation goes
1. Christina
2. Girls Aloud
3. Lady Gaga
4. Cher
There was only room for one Cher in music and Miss. Lloyd had to bid her namesake a hearty "Kiss Kiss I'll C U L8r".
"Ardent Rihanna mud-slinger"
Out of curiosity, has anybody ever seen the music channels play the actual audio in which Cheryl sings on 'Check It Out'? It's somewhat bizarre they dub the original mix over the 'Special Mix' video.
"Ardent Rihanna mud-slinger"
I've seen the one where she sings in the chorus, and I don't even care that she's edited into the video badly as she looks incredible in it.
Up is where we go from here.
Just listening to 'When You're Gone'. It's the only properly amazing thing Avril has released since her debut.
The bridge of Why Should I Be Sad is one of the best moments on Blackout, I do believe.
Janet.
