Actually, I slightly disagree. 'Destroy Everything You Touch' is very accessible and works as a single but it doesn't pack the same emotional punch as 'International Dateline,' 'Weekend,' or 'Beauty*2,' nor the sheer glacial beauty of 'Soft Power' or the pop-adrenaline of 'Sugar.'Originally Posted by ops
It's just an amazing album. I'm pretty sure it's regarded as an essential electronic record.

"Ships in the Night" is seriously one of the best songs of 2011. Amazing.
Lady Gaga's new video is the most genuine thing she's ever done.

True, it's amazing.Originally Posted by aMusicListener

I listened to your problems, now listen to mine.
They shouldn't be complaining, that chart is amazing. Except for...Hey Soul Sister in THIRD when Telephone is 16th and Bad Romance is 8th? Vomit.Originally Posted by popknark

Yeah because Lady Gaga is the only pop star of this generation to have an iconic anthematic song. California Gurls says hi. *Eye roll*
I was thinking the same thing.Originally Posted by clockworknovak

Not only that, it's the only album of theirs that I truly, from top to bottom, like. I only like about 50% of Velocifero, so I don't rate it that much as an album.Originally Posted by DirtyPornStar

Why does Kate Bush need to master her records at such a low volume?

Velocifero is still a pretty good album though! ...But I agree, not a patch on Witching Hour.Originally Posted by wishingonastarlight

It is my favorite too.

I think we've been tainted by the loudness war: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_warOriginally Posted by aMusicListener
So her albums being at a low volume and getting us to increase it is probably only a good thing for the music itself.
Born to run, get ahead of the rest.
I thought Witching Hour was disappointing.
Pretty soon shit'll happen, what a wonderful world
I (secretly) love the song "Easy" by Paula DeAnda feat. Bow Wow. One of my old guilty pleasures that I fortunately rediscovered today.

Their first two albums were dreadful, in my opinion. Electroclash had some some of its 'highs,' (is 'Black Cherry' by Goldfrapp considered Electroclash? Because that is one amazing album / Miss Kittin is also fabulous) but I'm glad it's dead. There was way too much dreck.Originally Posted by wishingonastarlight

I think her insistence on using analogue technology can account for that, at least in part. Though that doesn't explain why the remastered The Red Shoes sounds louder in analogue....Originally Posted by aMusicListener
But it's weird, isn't it? The analogically remastered version of 'The Red Shoes' sounds crispier than the digital mastering.
I do think mastering songs in absurd levels is always a bad idea that taints the quality, but they are just too low, even compared to contemporaneous albums. It's really hard to fully appreciate them on my sodding volume-capped iPod. I heard that setting up the volume on iTunes makes the songs sound like crap, is it true?Originally Posted by KamikazeHeart

Setting the volume to 100% in iTunes vastly improves The Dreaming, at least. I don't think there are any problems with the re-mastered Hounds of Love from 1997. The problem lies mostly with the former, which is SCREAMING to be played loud.
Björks 'Unravel' makes me imagine I'm in a Panda embrace.
Like this:
It's such a warm song.
"Spit ya fluidest, Bitch..."
I stan 'til I die for the two of the best (and most underrated) Femme Fatale tracks - Seal It With A Kiss & Trip To Your Heart.
What a lovely way to burn.
I think all the Ladytron albums are great to be honest. I have a hard time picking a favorite.
high like heaven, strong like music, slow like honey & heavy with mood
