I watched an Aussie film last night called X: Night of Vengeance starring Ilithiya and Seppia from Spartacus.

It's about a couple of prostitutes who accidently witness something and bad guys start chasing them. It's pretty standard but done and acted very well and really quite good.

The kind of b-movie thriller the Hollywood seems unable to pull off nowadays.

Waw, Fukunaga\'s Jane Eyre was a beautiful and fresh interpretation of the wonderful novel. I seriously couldn\'t imagine a more perfect Jane/Rochester pairing than Mia and Michael. My only (minor) gripe with the film was that Bertha was relegated to the background as much as she was, but overall the film does do great justice to the book.

Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For. Finally!

(I know, it's still probably at least two years away, but this is progress...)

Battleship is one of the worst movies of all time.

I watched Ghostbusters for the first time since childhood last night. I was stoned, and it was more amazing than I remember.

Buried is so shit. None of these "high concept" films live up to the concept. And Ryan Reynolds is the epitome of blaaaaand.

I wish I hadn't seen The Dictator. I really enjoyed Borat and liked Bruno to some extent (although it made me feel slightly ill in places), but this film is quite poor. The main issue is that they aren't pranking/punking anyone in this film and it's all a cast of actors. I can understand why, Sacha could have ended up shot trying to pull that joke in America, but it felt very flat the whole way through.

I still can't quite believe there's going to be a stripper film starring Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer.

    Amazing amazing amazing.

I thought the trailers for The Dictator were really odd - the initial ones I saw (in the cinema) were all about him being a twat in his home country and then coming to America, shagging Megan Fox, making Kardashian jokes that will be completely irrelevant in 5 years etc. But then I read a review when it came out which wrote about him being kidnapped and having to get a job and falling for a woman and hanging out with Arsenio Hall (oh wait, wrong film). Then I saw a newer trailer which suddenly includes all that storyline. Just a bit weird that it was left out completely to start with.
Replying with GIFs is like arguing with a tree - really boring.

    Amazing amazing amazing.
They're both gross though. Pettyfer, in particular, makes my skin crawl. IN A BAD WAY.

However, the werewolf off True Blood is in it and he's so hot he should win an Oscar.

It's pretty bizarre how little from the first trailer is actually in the film.

Today I watched the movie 50/50 - really nice and sad and all, but it's worth watching.

Will Channing Tatum be playing himself or will he reprise his role as a plank of wood from every other film he's ever appeared in?

Alex Pettyfer is gorgeous. Really want to go and watch it but not quite sure how I'd cope with the oh so obvious stares from the largely female crowd.

I watched a film called Love and Other Impossible Pursuits today. I think it's relatively recent; I only watched it because I was that bored and it was the best thing I hadn't already watched on Sky Anytime. Anyway it was a drama with Natalie Portman and Lisa Kudrow. I still couldn't take Kudrow seriously; I don't know whether it's just years of her being Phoebe, but everything she did made me laugh or smirk. Her character just seemed like Phoebe doing an impression of a doctor.

Good film in the end though.

I think it's more of a money-making thing... something like Amelie would have been released on DVD in France months before it even showed at the cinema in the UK. If they had the English subtitles option, UK audiences would buy the DVD before it had even been released and kill its Box Office (and press coverage too).

It's really annoying, though, as about 7 of every 10 French films probably doesn't even get a UK release!!!

Snow White and the Huntsman is amazing. What a beautiful film. The imagery is just stunning, and I just love how dramatic it all is. I'm a total sucker for that! Like when the evil queen takes the white bath, or when she stands in the tower with the crows circling around her. It's all so dramatic and it looks just stunning.

Really good!! It's basically all slow motion scenes of pretty stuff, and single dramatic tears rolling down cheeks. And I love it!

I don't think enough people would import a dvd to even make a dent in it's box office chances

It's probably just because so few French films get a British release, whereas a lot of US and British films are released everywhere. Subtitling can take bloody ages, especially if you have to translate, too. I'm willing to bet that a lot of independent British stuff doesn't come with French subtitles either.

I'd just look it up on YouTube, theres quite a few French movies up there with English subtitles. Speaking of french movies, I LOVE Les Choristes.
