It's probably due to a.) the success of the other PWL re-issues to date (inc. Sinitta) and b.) the fact the PWL catalogue is so easily licensced as they are invovled in these re-issues themselves. I agree, it would be nice to have everything on 2CDs but we're not getting it.

Assuming there are no mastering issues, and the sleeve doesn't have "ive Star" or whatever, I'll be getting Luxury Of Life for sure...some nice mixes and non-album singles there.

Really looking forward to these. Great to see Shep's 12" mix of Slightest Touch included.

This will do. I was never really going to be satisfied but the inclusion of "Problematic" and decent remixes is appreciated. Fingers crossed for the artwork. I do like my Five Star logos to be just right (NOT like the "System Addict" shambles in 2005).

Hmmmm - not bad - not great. Pleased with Problematic, gutted with the versions of All fall down and Find the time they chose as these are on CD and there are superior versions still only on vinyl. Slightest touch - great mix but already available on CD, the 7" mix would have been good. But who knows, there may be a singles collection in the future?!

So 6 out of 10 from me, 7 if the artwork and sleeve notes are spot on!!!!

At least Cherry Pop have done more than Sony!!!

I really wanted it to be like the first 3 x Kim Wilde remasters. I wanted ALL the single mixes. Especially 'Hide & Seek' and 'RSVP'.

Also on 'Silk & Steel' no 'The Slightest Touch' (7" Shep Pettibone Mix)' it was their biggest hit (just behind 'Rain or Shine' and 'System Addict') - Shocking that these are not going to be on the remasters,

I would actually prefer the single mixes (with the album versions) and lose some of the 12" mixes, but maybe its just me.

I will still buy these but a little sad right now.

Fairly disappointed with the track-listing, but I'm guessing something is better than nothing??

The die hard fans out there will realise there is so much material missing that could be classed as essential. In a perfect world, a double CD collection for each album would have been better but for me, I was hoping that at least one member from Five Star would want to be involved and add their comments and thoughts about the tracks/albums. Not wanting any involvement kinda slaps the re-issues in the face and two fingers up to their long suffering (lol) fans - what a wasted opportunity.

Loving Cherry Pop and their recent releases, keep up the good work!!!

Do we DEFINITELY know they are not the 7" mixes? On the London Boys re-issue, that had the 7" mix of 'My Love' on it, without stating on the sleeve. And I believe it's the same with the Mel & Kim album.

We definitely know - the album versions were very deliberately chosen.
Yep - a wasted opportunity for sure, but "soemthing is better than nothing".

I am pretty sure its confirmed they are the 'album versions' - I wanted both like on the first 3 x Kim Wilde re-releases.

It is a real shame that yet ANOTHER Five Star release (after the cheap 'Legends' boxset and the 2003 (?) 'Greatest Hits') is going to feature the slower paced album version of 'The Slightest Touch' rather than the huge top 5 Shep Pettibone remixed 'Single mix'.

Yes I know the 12" Shep P mix will be on the CD but the 12" version was not the one played on Capital radio back in Spring-summer 1987 that my sister and I danced around to like loons and inspired me to buy my first 7" record at the age of 9.

I will still buy these as I like the album versions but can't see why they couldn't give us the single mixes, considering no Five Star album has the 7" mixes apart from 1989's official 'Greatest Hits' which has all of tthem except for 'Hide & Seek' (which along with 'Crazy' was not on the album as not strictly a hit). However my 1989 CD is worn and the sound is so quiet.

The thing that also worries me is I wanted all of their 4 RCA albums to be released and failure to include the superior single mixes may affect sales so we don't get 1987's 'Between The Lines' or 1988's 'Rock The World', which would be a huge shame.

I'm buying the 1989 Greatest Hits CD now. I have a 1994 version which I thought was the same pretty much but it's not, then?

    http://www.discogs.com/Five-Star-The...elease/1731573

How does one tell the 7" mix of 'Slightest Touch'? Track length, etc?

The Slightest Touch 7" Remix has only ever appeared (on CD) on the 1989 Greatest Hits, along with all the other single edits/remixes (RSVP, Another Weekend, Rain or Shine etc) - probably their only 'proper' compilation!

But they aren't named as such, are they? There's no '7" Remix' or 'Single Remix' listed on any covers or anything, is there?
    Kissy Kissy, Anfunny

  14. #64
Nope! I dont even think the booklet credits list Shep as the remix producer! But rest assured, it is that version - far superior than the Silk and Steel album version

The album version is longer at approx 4:30mins. Whilst the single remix is around 4:16mins.
The music Video features the single mix...

Yes that's the superior single mix by Mr Pettibone! - We must have been on youtube at exactly the same time looking for the video.

Problematic (from Buster's own label) highly unlikely to make the final cut of Luxury of Life.
    Draw your own conclusions.....

    So the tracklisting isn't confirmed??

Anyway I've preordered from HMV now. Regardless of tracklist I'm getting them both.

    MUCH EXCITE!!!!

Just noticed that the Five Star albums on the Cherry Pop website have changed - the track listing for both albums has been edited and it appears the following have been removed:

    1) Problematic
    2) Stay Out Of My Life (12" Version)

Has Daddy Pearson been interfering as usual and messing it up? I wouldn't be shocked by that all!!

The M-Groove remix of "Can't Wait" has also gone...

By the time I get this will there actually BE any bonus material?

What's going on with these releases?!

  23. #73
    I'm not buying them. They're a mess.
    Kissy Kissy, Anfunny

  24. #74
You'd actually think it would be too late to mess with the tracklisting.... but as it's not, why don't they just replace it with the extended version or something else?

Whatever is going on with these releases is a real shame - they had the potential to be so much more.

  25. #75
I'm still going to buy them both - hopefully the remastering has been done well, having all the tracks sounding shiny and new is a big plus in my eyes. The old CDs sound so quiet, so it will be nice to blast them and hopefully hear 'new' things in the tracks

The track listing is a mess but it's still better than nothing after being starved of anything from Five Star in years!!

Yes it's a wasted opportunity as these albums will probably never get the 'deluxe' treatment again but hey ho, such is life!
