And once again, they're off my list. Urgh.

I noticed the glitch at the beginning of the slightest touch 12" but not the problems mentioned with Rain or Shine Remix.

Mine are played though a 3.1 speaker set with a sub woofer - they sound solid and crisper than ever, especially Are you man enough 12", Find The Time 12" and If I say yes 12"

I tested Legends Show me what you've got for me against the new S+S edition and there is no comparison. S+S version is crisper and has greater spatial/sound scaping - I had to crank the volume for the legends version to match S+S volume level. Maybe CP had greater success with some master tapes than others?

I'm loving the re-issues and i'm guessing it's down to perception and personal choice?

I think it's down to the equipment you play them on by the sounds of it! (Pun intended)
Replying with GIFs is like arguing with a tree - really boring.

All down to preference of sound I think. Also bear in mind that actually the master tapes themselves are not in good condition. If you heard the sound direct from them, you would only be pleased by the way they sound on these discs.

Corrections on the two notes you mention were issued, but they haven't been ammended. Also image quality has been noted by Cherry Pop and this should be fixed for any reprints.

Thanks for the comments about the sleevenotes.

It'll never happen but I'd love one of those warts and all documentaries about Five Star telling the full story. I'm sure there are a few tales!

Hmm, I'm still in 2 minds about these. I'd love them, but they seem a bit of a let down.

The issue with the image quality also puts me off. I might hold out for a re-print if they're going to be fixed, but god knows when/if they'll get that far!

Me too. I've never understood why the kids didn't become more independent of Buster when they were old enough to and realised the glory days with him were over and that they needed to move on. Denise has a gorgeous voice - it's a bit of a loss for her not to be still recording regularly.

    Very Dissapointed with the reissues.

    : ( the artwork is attrocious : ((((

Why would you package an album called "Luxury of Life" to look like a homeless persons armpit?

And the logo on the S&S CD looks like it was drawn with an Etch a Sketch.

    I feel sick.

They better not do the same thing to my beloved "Rock The World".....HANDS OFF!!!

What is the sound quality of the tracks - better than 'Legends'? I take it we get only album versions?

I just saw a friend of mine, really good friend, has Stedman as a friend on Facebook. He says he met him on holiday and had no idea who he was. He doesn't even know who Five Star are now or during the 80s. Interesting!
“I heard it. I immediately was so sick by it and upset that I turned over and went back to sleep.”

I have mulled these over for a week now. While I love the music and to my ears the sound quality is great, I have to agree the artwork is awful. It's not even the photo quality, there is a general fan made feel to the whole thing. I have made better myself!

For example I can't understand why the proper logo couldn't be used on the Silk&Steel CD when it's fine on Luxury.

I know, I know it's probably something to do with daddy Pearson wanting a billion pounds or something but honestly I would have preferred it to be blank!

The back covers both have an odd brown my-printer-is-running-out-of-ink quality to them too...

Still the songs are amaze and I can always have fun making my own artwork. Although a variety of pictures are hard to find on the net.

Whoop whoop another Five Star mix is being unleashed from the vaults...and these guys get the mastering right so high hopes!

"If I say yes" 5:55 extended version is being issued this month on Dance Classics 35 + 36 by Rodeo Media - it says its extended so this probably means the US Lew Hahn extended mix which is FANTASTIC, as it was only ever issued on cassingle in the UK(the PWL extended version on Silk and Steel is 7 mins plus). Alternatively it could be the Shep Pettibone mix which is cool too.

They've released a lot of Five Star mixes so hopefully more trickle through...check out vinylmasterpiece.com which is where I found out gems like Hide and Seek 12" and Love take over extneded 12" were released on CD!!

I've often looked at Vinyl Masterpeice and they have some pretty good comps but my worry is that the stuff is often from vinyl? Their double disc sets are very expensive so never wanted to risk it.

Are the transfers from masters generally do you know? Not come across anyone before who I could ask.

  14. #114
The Disco Classics ones sound like they are from masters, however some of the others appear to be sourced from vinyl, even though they say "all tracks have been digitally remastered". Still superb quality though! Betther than the ahem problems with the stuff realloy sourced from hte original tapes!!

Did anyone else see Alan Carr on tonight's The One Show on BBC1?

When asked which 80s act he would like to open up for him at his live shows (like Rick Astley did for Peter Kay), Alan responded "Five Star"!! and then sang a little bit of "The Slightest Touch"!

Denise/Five Star, do it!!!!!!!!!!! Would be amazing

According to their official website/myspace and facebook pages, Five Star have a new album 'coming soon' - not sure what to make of this and very little/no information is known

Time to get excited or take it with a pinch of salt?

I'd take it with a pinch of salt, but great news if it ever happens. However, don't say too much or you might have the forum taken offline, just like their fansite forum was this week! All of a sudden people started commenting; asking if the album would ever happen and then the forum 'miraculously' goes offline!

There are always dark forces at work when it comes to Five Star.

re: Alan Carr and obscure mentions, I was listening to David Walliams and Chris Evans on Radio 2 today and there was mention of Five Star.

    They are remembered.

So, do we know if the next two albums are gonna be done?

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet....

I'll believe it when it actually happens!

New album and a tour, Really?? hhmmmmm - I know it's awful to be so doubting, but past experiences aren't easily forgiven/forgotten

The biog on that site calls Romford a small village. I've never been, but somehow doubt it's a small village!
    It's = it is/it has. Its = its.

It's a historical market town. Or at least that's what it likes to think.

has it been discussed that they have announce they are touring next year, i know their doin Lowry in Manchester

    Check the page before....

That website looks Buster Pearson run. He has been saying the whole five would be touring every year since 2003 and it hasn't happened. I won't hold my breath. I thought half of Five Star no longer even spoke to their dad.
