HMV.
95% of the time, they ship new releases out the Wednesday/Thursday before release and I get them on the Friday/Saturday, and very rarely the Monday of release.
Me too, in fact at this stage I would be very surprised if that didn't happen. Saturday before the Monday is a nice bonus, and the Friday (which does happen sometimes) is EVEN BETTER.Originally Posted by BeingBoring
Also, HMV uniformly ship in sturdy cardboard boxes which have proved uniquely jewel-case-crack-resistant for me.
HMV are amazing with pre orders.
Another vote for HMV. Just got my Kick-Ass Blu-ray this morning, released on Monday.

Another vote for HMV, I have never got a pre-order late, I'm usually disappointed if it comes on the said date as they are usually early. HMV rock for that!
HMV. I got Teenage Dream last Friday. I think I once had a Family Guy DVD the Wednesday before release, which was amazing and ridiculous all in one.
Been there, done that, t-shirt didn't fit.
Yeah, this has happened to me before with DVDs, some of them have ended up being nearly a week early. I love HMV SO MUCHOriginally Posted by cleggar
I wonder if I order my new iPod from HMV (released on 13th September) if I'll receive it a few days early? Hmm.
Left the cake out in the rain. Still going to eat it. Fuck you.
This is not about pre-orders, but I need to moan somewhere: Sainsbury's online 'sell' a LOT of cheap/decent-priced older stuff they can't actually deliver. What's the point?
I'm guessing with that their system indicates it is in stock but it is only available in store at certain locations?

I ordered Twiggy's disco album from Sainsburys where it was a good £6 cheaper than everywhere else, it took around 2 months where every week they would email saying they were struggling to get it - I think they were just hoping I would cancel it. Pretty bad regardless of the price!
Yeah, I've been getting these mails for months now for two things I ordered with them. I wonder if THEY will eventually cancel my order, but I can wait.
Huh, so Play.com is effectively closing down then. It's going to be a portal solely for PlayTrade / third party sellers and they won't be selling anything themselves directly.

It's the same as Amazon Marketplace, really. You usually find the same (bigger) sellers on both (zoverstocks etc). I don't think I've ever found anything cheaper on eBay than Amazon Marketplace.

Seems like a very weird move.
I also recently found out about zoverstocks being the shopfront for the stuff that is sent to Music Magpie. Interesting!
Sixty-nine is the only dinner for two.
I think the bricks and mortar "That's Entertainment!" shops are as well.
Play closing is going to mean price increases on Amazon, I think. It was usually either Play or HMV who Amazon pricematch, but with Play out of the equation we'll only have HMV's stupidly high back catalogue prices for them to go up against. I've noticed it already in the last few weeks - one DVD in my wishlist has gone up from £13.99 to £19 in the last few days.

Same here. Several items I have in mine have almost doubled in price.
