I find that Italian Summer and New Orleans are highlights.
I'm not keen on the pub-rock styled tracks, which is a shame because her boho lyrics are lovely.

Pub rock???!!!!!!!! Please don't tell me she's made a record like that.
I basically want Rock The Wild Heart A Little, part 38.

Some tracks are good, but to these ears, there are some that are like pub rock.Originally Posted by Eric Generic

Indeed! Was there much in the way of extra material recorded at the time. The Wild Heart is an all-time favourite, even though Stand Back rips inexplicably quit from my (cheap) CD.Originally Posted by Eric Generic

As for outtakes from the era, there doesn't seem to be much..at least commercially. The boxset from '98 - Enchanted - has a couple of alternate mixes but that's about it as far as I can remember. She always had album cuts and old tracks on her B-sides for those albums; later you'd get some genuine B-sides around the time of Street Angel. Some of the CD-singles from The Other Side of The Mirror period have 12" mixes of I Can't Wait and (possibly) Edge Of Seventeen.

After forcing myself to listen to the new album a few times I've come to the conclusion that the only good tracks are Secret Love, Anabelle Lee, Italian Summer and New Orleans.
Having read some of the reviews, I'm not sure I'll even get this CD.

On the whole, it's very dated.Originally Posted by Eric Generic

CHRIST ALMIGHTY, this is breathtaking.
Born to run, get ahead of the rest.
Listen to the 2009 Soundstage Sessions version of it as well. That's one of the closest to crying song a song has ever made me.
Hi everyone, just a curious question. I love Stevie Nick's solo stuff and I own her greatest hits cd called "Timespace", I've reached the point where I want to start buying her albums and on saturday, I'm going to HMV in birmingham hoping at least there will be an album waiting for me to buy!
it is a big HMV and I reckon it will have "In your dreams" and her recent greatest hits but a possibility at least one of her old albums? Thanks anyway guys!
Hard to choose, as the 80s albums are all so strong...but I'd personally go for The Wild Heart just ahead of the rest!

UPDATE; went to Birmingham saturday and in HMV, I found one Stevie Nicks album, Trouble in Shangri-la. I was surprised that one was there but brought it anyway and its nice album, starting to grow on me with songs like "Too far from texas". I'll get her other albums at some point.
Trouble In Shangri-La is pretty decent! I loved it blindly, since it was her first new album in 7 years, but it stands up pretty well next to her 80s stuff.
Planets Of The Universe is easily my favourite track, but it dates from 1979 and the Tusk sessions so there's obviously some of the same magic that's in Sara, Storms and Beautiful Child.

I love the extended 2001 version of Planets of the Universe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xGWDRtjzUU) with the extra lyrics that are in the Rumours demo version:
You will remember
But I will die a slow death
It's only an overture
To something that was best
And don't condescend to me
Take your leave
Take your leave
Take your leave of me now
Disappear into the air
I wish you gone
And I don't care
I don't care
I don't care
Take your leave of me now
Apparently she thought that part was a bit too harsh on Lindsey to leave on.
I love "Planets of the Universe" too, I remember thinking it was one of the tracks that stood out to me alot and I listened to it quite a few times. The albums growing on me more now.
