Fantastic news. And she doesn't seem to have much else in the pipeline (except another horror film), so hopefully she'll be up for it. She may as well, it's easily the best reviewed film role she's has so far.Originally Posted by hudweiser

Brilliant news about Kirby. She was easily the best new character in it.
The Janines...
I hope she comes back too. Would the 3 originals do a 5th?

I think David probably would, Neve and Courteney would be the biggest problem. Especially Courteney who didn't seem to enjoy the 4th one at all. I think they'd have to kill at least one of them off though.
The Janines...
Yeah, I think Gail will be retired/killed off in the next one. Especially now her and David are properly over, I'd say it'd be one or the other, and she'd seem the most obvious.
I'd say Neve would rest on if the Titanic show takes off. I dunno though, if they get Kirby back, I feel she's not required as much. Maybe a cameo or something, but she wouldn't be required to carry another film on her own.

Neve gave an interview fairly recently saying she wanted to do more movies. I think David would probably return, too, since he doesn't have a lot else going on career-wise. No idea about Courteney, though, especially since Wes just gave an interview where he said she begged him to kill Gale in 4.
I've always thought Gale was the most interesting of the three, so I'd be most disappointed if she didn't return. Dewey is a fairly useless character and probably should have been killed off several sequels ago, so I wouldn't mind him not coming back and/or finally dying.
I'm not suprised about Courteney, you could tell her heart wasn't really in it. In that case, I can only see her agreeing to do another if she's killed in it this time. Which is a shame as she's easily my favourite of the 3.
The Janines...
I do agree that if any of them would killed off in the next then Gale would be the most obvious as Courtney wanted to die in the fourth one however it'd be far more satisfying to see Dewey been killed off surprisingly.
I'd be gutted if Gail was killed off.
Maybe she wanted to be killed in 4 because she knew her marriage wouldn't survive until 5.

I wouldn't want them to kill any of the main three off, but I wouldn't mind if they made a sequel without one of them. They'd have the option to return for Scream 6 anyway.
I want to say Dewey should have died in 2 but Randy's death was so good and you can't really have them both. I like Dewey in the first film but he really irritates me after that.
I also dislike the cover for the DVD, the previous 3 had specific photo shoots for the covers but this one is a mixture of that and stills from the film. It just looks out of place!
I wish Dewey was killed off in this film, he was the worst character in the whole movie.
Gale/Gail dying makes much more sense and would be much more upsetting to the fans so I understand why they would want to. I am kind of annoyed how they killed off an original in each of the movies. Randy in the second, Cotton in the third... would have been perfect to kill Dewey to keep it going.
Ah, it was so bad. But I love Hayden and Emma so I figured I'd rent it. Nothing was particularly scary or gore-y which was disappointing but whatever!
I wouldn't mind a new one as long as it improves on the shitty aspects.
Not everything in this magical world is quite what it seems.
Just watched this, and it's a weird one. I enjoyed it, and it felt really... comfortable, in a good way. The new characters slotted in well and I fell right back into Woodsboro. The opening was good fun (thanks, Anna and Kristin!) and I enjoyed how it fucked about with 'the rules'. But it felt a bit rushed, and I didn't feel like we got under the skin of the newer characters; they just didn't survive enough peril for us to see them grow. I would have liked Kirby to be attacked and to see her come to terms with it, before her final showdown.
Also: have the films always contained such outright comedy? I felt it was properly gunning for laughs. Shame, as it was time wasted.
Sixty-nine is the only dinner for two.
Where did you think it was gunning for laughs? I never really thought there was any more or less comedy in it than the other movies. I haven't seen it for a few months though, so I could be forgetting bits.
The Janines...
Gale had quite a few "try hard" moments (they really did the character an injustice altogether).
I too would have liked to see Kirby get a "fight" a-la Sarah Michelle Gellar in I Know What You Did... or Tara Reid in Urban Legend. She was far too great of a character to be so easily killed.
About Kirby, I hope all these theories of her surviving are true. Perhaps the male killer really did love her that much that he just made it look like she was going to die, but really she survives and could be the new Sidney.
Well, Wes Craven said in an interview something along the lines of 'Is she dead? Well, she was still moving around when the camera was last on her. If Hayden wants to be in the next one, and isn't too busy, then she's in it. It's up to her.'
The Janines...
They'd better get a move on if they're doing another one, Wes is 74 this year!
I do hope they get a move on and do another.
Kevin Williamson confirmed in an interview he's not writing Scream 5, which for me pretty means there is no point in making one. I did love Kirby though!
What is it with these films and Kevin Williamson, he can't seem to stick around for any of them, he writes then gets replaced all the time.
I can see Kirby being the new Sydney... They need to kill off one of the originals in future ones though to have some sort of impact.
