Audrey made me laugh so much tonight when she like "Anyway, I can't stand here all day talking about heroin!" Just the way she said it cracked me up.
The Janines...
It was one of those things that I first heard her say it and I cracked a smile and then the more I thought about it, the more I began to laugh until me and my Mam were in a fit of giggles over it. It was such an outrageous line delivered in such a sincere, blase manner! There were also some classic Eileen Grimshaw skeptical looks last night, I do love Eileen...Originally Posted by Robsolete
I'll never forget that scrap that Gail and Eileen had where Eileen said that Sarah had slept with half the boys in Weatherfirld to which Gail retorted that Todd has slept with the other half. After they came to blows Jadin turned up in his work gear and Gail said, "look here comes the rest of the village people". Classic
There was also a poignant scene where Eileen was talking about her fears about Todd and his sexuality. It was so beautifully portrayed and rang so true I was really moved. Sue Cleaver is a wonderful actress. She deserves bigger storylines.
I saw Audrey's line on the omnibus this morning, hahaha! That truly was classic, another Victoria Wood moment.Originally Posted by IMHO

That is probably one of the best soap fight scenes ever. I love it when Gail jumps on Elieen's back and goes crazy.Originally Posted by The Visitor

Someone gave me a framed photo of this fight once.
Am I the only one who thinks Simon is really odd looking? Like an elf or something.
The best thing about Simon is that he looks absolutely nothing like either of his parents. I know it's soapland, but come on...Originally Posted by jamieluke

Yeah he looks like he's mixed race, like maybe he has a black grandparent. He is very cute but I think he could be a Chesney and be not so cute when he hits his teens.Originally Posted by SockMonkey

Yes, he looks nothing like his parents and he also has the most animated face I have ever seen!
Has anyone seen the lovely Ryan Thomas's (Jason) bum in this month's 'attitude'?
Drools.
Bill Tarmey who plays Jack Duckworth is to leave the show.
From ITV's intranet:
Bill had indicated to producers that he wanted to leave in 2009 but agreed to stay on to the show’s 50th anniversary in December 2010.
The story team, writers and new Producer Phil Collinson are working on a fitting departure storyline for Jack Duckworth – details of which will be kept strictly under wraps.
Coronation Street Executive Producer Kieran Roberts said: “Bill Tarmey and Jack Duckworth have been a huge part of Coronation Street for 30 years and, like his many millions of fans, everyone who works on the show with Bill will be sad to see him go. That said we fully respect Bill’s decision to retire and when he leaves at the end of this year we will make sure his character’s send off is fitting for one of the show’s all time greats.”
Bill said: “People often ask me if I like Jack Duckworth and I always reply – ‘Like him, I bloody love him!’ I have had the most amazing 30 years playing Jack. Because of him I have made some fantastic friends and travelled all over the world and I will be sorry to say goodbye to Jack.
"I had originally wanted to retire last year but Producer Kim Crowther and my wife Ally persuaded me to stay for the show’s 50th anniversary and I am glad that I made that decision. I have had some great storylines over the past 3 decades and I am looking forward to seeing what Jack’s final story will be.”
Seems like a good idea. He and Connie are some of the dead wood of the show but it kind of explains it a bit if he wanted to leave last year but was kept on for the sake of the anniversary. He's not been the same since Vera left anyway.

I didn't realise that the character of Peter Barlow is supposed to be 45 years old.  Leanne Battersby is only 28 - that's quite an age gap, has it ever been alluded to?
(The actors are 42 and 31 respectively, for reference!)

i don't think it's ever been mentioned but then it's not that much of a big deal when you're adults, is it? If Leanne was 16 and Peter was 33 it would be seen as more of an issue, I'm sure!Originally Posted by SockMonkey

I really hate that Coronation Street isn't on a Wednesday anymore. There was the perfect balance of Eastenders and Corrie throughout the week before but it's been ruined now. I also don't approve of lumping the second Friday episode to Sunday nights, stop messing around with the schedule!
Oh is that a permanent move? I noticed (and forgot) it was on on Sunday, but thought it was a one-off for a football match or some such nonsense.

With regard to Simon not looking like Peter or Lucy, I hope we're not in for another baby swap saga at some stage
Dame Bev of Callard was on GMTV earlier talking about her stint in the priory last year (when Liz went on that really, really long holiday)....apparently she had electrical shock therapy for major clinic depression! Who knew!
Yeah, she did a Sunday tabloid interview last weekend about it - sounds terrible! She had it 4 times. She's written a whole book about it, hasn't she?
I'd get a bit depressed if had to wear that black pointy star necklace thing all the time in every episode though.

God, that Michelle baby swap storyline was horrendous, it was drawn out to death and in the end it was pretty much resolved in the same way as that Simpson's episode when they ran the real Seymour Skinner out of town on a train and were court-ordered never to mention it again. An excercise in pointlessness, if ever I saw one.Originally Posted by The Visitor
As for tonight's episode, poor Tyronne, the baby is blatantly Kevin's. He's going to be devastated, I really hope he goes mental and give everyone involved hell rather than becoming a blubbering wreck, sobbing into his double chin, sprawled on the sofa in his saddest Y-fronts. Mad-Eye Molly should be ashamed of herself!
I find it difficult to believe that Molly was supposed to still be having it off with Tyrone whilst she was shagging Kevin. She didn't seem overly bothered about keeping Tyrone sweet or treating him well, and I can easily imagine her witholding entrance to "Molly's Kabin" whilst she had furmonster Kev on the go.

Tyrones not the sharpest tool in the box anyway so he won't think about that. What does amaze me is that they think John Stape would try to get another teaching job in an area where he is known with false documents. Surely he would move away and try it.
