It's not really a sad movie but when I saw Toy Story 2 in 3D last weekend, it reminded how sad the 'When She Loved Me' part is.
And The Lion King.

Bridge To Terabithia. Was not expecting that plot development. Bastard movie.

There are quite a few movies that make go to pieces in places (I swear, make it emotional and play the right music and I am so fucking easy to tear up) but perhaps not overall sad.

This will probably sound weird (and I think I've mentioned them both before in threads so maybe search the titles in the forum for full explanations) but two films that make me So. Fucking. Sad. just thinking about them now are Carrie and Drag Me To Hell. You can probably work out common elements between the films as well.

Dancer In The Dark absolutely crushed me. I don't think I could bear to watch it again.

Veronica Guerin is one.

That movie was all about the sad from start to finish - partly because you knew where it was going but also because it was so brilliantly made.

Where The Wild Things Are recently surprised me with how sad it was at the end.

The Break Up really got to me. I mean it was just relentless.

Dancer in the Dark/Breaking the Waves.

I really shouldn't watch Lars von Trier films but I still do.

Dancer in the Dark for me too, and also Grave of the Fireflies - both are incredibly bleak and harrowing.

Dancer in the Dark for me too, I was in bits by the time the credits rolled. Lilya 4 Ever is the same too. Christ, that poor girl, when you think anything couldn't be any worse for her something else horrific happens.

Both of those are two of my favourite films but judging by the state I'm in at the end of them, I really start to question why they are.

The endings of both Pan's Labyrinth and Jeux D'enfants do tend to set me off but I'd say they're more bittersweet than sad.

Oh I know what you mean. I watched it with a group of friends who had already seen it, and when the "event" happens, we all had tears rolling down our faces but they were also all looking at me and I knew they had put it on on purpose!

Stepmom with Julia Roberts and La Sarandon (cheesy as hell, but the brilliant acting really lifts it)

In the bedroom (one of the best depictions on screen of the shock of grief i've ever seen)

Oh, you stole my post! Both made me an utter wreck and I doubt I could watch either of them again.

Walk The Line. Well, I watched it up until the brother died and burst out crying so I've never seen the rest.

Totally agree. This is one of my favourite movies I think.

Also, Priest is horrifically sad but brilliant. Might have to watch that again soon...

Marvin's Room's pretty affecting. The Hours. Hmmm.....there must be more! Oh, Beaches!!!
So you like show tunes? That doesn't mean you're gay. It just means you're AWFUL!!!

I always found Drew Barrymore's character in "Never Been Kissed" being egged on her doorstep quite upsetting.

The ones that spring to mind:
- It's a Wonderful Life
- Toy Story 2 (the 'When She Loved Me' scene)

It's rare that a film makes me cry. I can count the ones that have on one hand, but the Notebook had me balling.
