I want Rihanna's next release to be an album full of Princess of Chinas. Ethereal, synthesizer heavy, hip-hop flourished tracks with angelic vocals and unexpected features.

I'd say that was Take Care, but Princess is indeed a close second.

PopFolke has the right idea though, an album in that vein would be great; a more organic soundscape, more vulnerability, less songs about having a bit of dick lobbed into her.

Radio has never been very supportive of her ballads, though, have they? (ignoring Take a Bow)

In the U.S. she's had a few successful ballads on radio. Other than Take A Bow, both Hate That I Love You and Unfaithful were big hits, and Rehab to a somewhat lessor extent.

Talk that Talk and Erotica are quite similar in a 'half the album is crap, the rest amazing' way.

She needs to realise dance is just where she's at (as shown by Where...Been STEAMING its way back into the Top 10 after two flops). Huge unpopular opinion here, but I would have loved Rih to have done Nicki's RedOne tracks. She'd do excellent things with Starships.

I don't know how much it was played elsewhere, but Capital hammered California King Bed when it was released. Shame it was one of my least favourite ballads of hers (due in no small part to that bloody Nivea advert).
