    So, Last Splash XX... what a beautiful re-issue. I'm so in love with it. Here's a pack shot;

    There's a sturdy, 4-panel wallet, one for each CD and the 4th holds the thick, 48-page booklet, which is packed with unseen photos, a history of the band/album, tour diary extracts and additional artwork by Vaughan Oliver. The remastering is not "LOUD", it sounds quite modest and if anything, only a little richer. And what a joy to have the entire Head To Toe 10" EP digitally for the first time ever! I had to buy a random 90s USA various artists promo CD from Discogs to get Head To Toe, the song, on CD format, but the other tracks were never released digitally. The main album is still superb, and in recent years, I've decided it outshines Belly's Star (co-incidental pun!), also from 1993. At the time, I was more impressed with Star and much more "into" Belly, but Last Splash wins out 20 years later. I am left puzzled as to why 4AD haven't given Throwing Muses or Belly a similar re-issue treatment, though? Also, Tanya Donelly re-joined The Breeders live on stage last week to perform some of the tracks... what a treat that must've been for US audiences! Jealous.

    Ah, so Vaughan Oliver's involved....it did look like his work!

    4AD did give Throwing Muses a very nice compilation last year (or the year before), in standard and deluxe editions. I'm still curious why they went straight to Last Splash and overlooked Pod though.

    Well, Pod is just... Pod. It had no singles or B-sides or extras, so it would just be... Pod, remastered. I guess there might be demos?

    Oh, I suppose you're right about Pod being comparitively bare in terms of bonus material...yes, demos and outtakes maybe.

    Not sure if it's been mentioned, but China Crisis' 1989 album Diary Of A Hollow Horse is getting the 2Cd deluxe treatment at the end of the month. Apparently it will include the abandoned/aborted sessions produced by Gary Katz (who did their Flaunt The Imperfection set in 1985). Kind of strange to see this album, the first flop CC record, get the nod, rather than any of the earlier albums.

    Can I get a woo and a hoo? ZZ Top 10-disc boxset with replica sleeves (a la Joni Mitchell) in a clamshell case:

    For the first time, the 70s stuff is now ALL featured in the original mixed versions. Only 2 of them are currently available in this form individually.

    Hopefully it'll be somewhere around the £20 mark.

    Cherry Red are also reissuing the Microdisney back catalogue, starting with an "Early Recordings 82-84" type collection, and then The Clock Fell Down The Stairs, the debut full album.

    Wouldn't mind 1987's Crooked Mile, too, although in truth I've got a 2CD Microdisney compilation and that's pretty much all I really need.

    I saw Billboard tweeting about Janet's "janet." 20th anniversary and I thought they were announcing a reissue. But no...

    You're talking about Chris Rea, right? Haha. Just had to figure that out for a second. Oh yes, the Chris Rea back catalogue would really benefit from some TLC, with bonus tracks etc. He did a LOT of B-sides.

    Yes, I'm drunk and I saw Chris Rea instead of China Crisis! Hence the delete, laughing my ass off here, I'm on a Lana Del Rey high here! Just saw her at Hammersmith.

    Pftt, no need to delete...you've actually reminded me that I never did get around to my Chris Rea B-sides anthology (I know, it sounds like the dullest idea on Earth, haha).

    It would be great if they reissued that album. It was huge during 1993/94. So many remixes. And perhaps they could release a DVD of the tour (if it was filmed - I can't remember).
