I thought that was a wise decision - if it showed her moving on from Mike people would've moaned, if it showed her becoming a spinster people would've moaned. This way it was left ambigious, since she said that she might have "another torrid romance" to Julie.

How can Susan not see Lynette, and they have a grandchild in common?
The four women never got together again to play poker. Take from that what you will.

Them not staying in touch makes no sense...not in this day and age.
That's life. The only thing most of them *truly* had in common was living on the same street. I found it realistic.

Gaby, as an example, would've never hung out with any of them if it had not been for geographical reasons.

The "this wasn't meant to be line" was interpreted by me to mean that they didn't all get together again to play poker but not that they didn't hear off each other or meet up individually, maybe that's just what I wanted to believe though.

I agree with the last two posts. It seems to be that most people have interpreted it as them never seeing each other again which I really don't think was the intention from Marc Cherry.

The series finale is airing in Ireland tonight. Thankfully they decided to break the episode in to 2 parts, as I've heard many say that it could have easily been done and perhaps should have. Still won't change the fact I'm gonna be a crying mess. And Mrs. McCluskey's death will take on a whole new meaning now when I watch it. So sad.

EDIT: Watched the episode and teared up but didn't cry. It was a very good episode if you take it for what it is. Renee's parts made me laugh a lot for once.

And I'm so glad it ended how it did with the ghosts, the summing up of their lives in the future (Gaby and Carlos arguing happily ever after was perfect) and the mystery with the box. It was quite clear some storylines were rushed, Bree and her lawyer getting together, Gaby moving on to bigger and better things.

And I spotted Marc Cherry, totally forgot he was supposed to be in the episode somewhere.

What's in the box, Jennifer? WHATS IN THE BOX?!

The Mrs McCluskey stuff was really hard to watch. Kathryn was such a great actress, and it's pretty incredible that she continued with the show despite being so ill in real life.

Considering how dreadful the show has been for the last few seasons (especially the last two, which have been borderline unwatchable at times) it was a decent finale. I agree that Katherine's return was terrible, but then they never had a clue what to do with the character once the 'mystery' storyline was resolved. Dana Delany deserved better.

Not surprised that Nicollette didn't appear at the end. I didn't spot John Barrowman either, but then his involvement in the show is probably best forgotten.

As I've said before, I really hope Eva moves on to something worthy of her talents next. I would say the same for Vanessa Williams, but have you SEEN the 666 Park Avenue trailer?

    I have and I'm hyped.

Once Upon A Time + Revenge + 666 Park Avenue = PurrfEKtION like my eternal idol would put it.

I do like what ABC are trying to do with Sunday nights: a three-hour block of pure escapism.

Unfortunately, Park Avenue just looks like the kind of show that'll get cancelled after three episodes. To be fair though, a lot of people said that about Once Upon A Time.

666 Park Avenue will get cancelled, mark my words. It will never last a season.

666 Park Avenue looks dreadfully cliched. I don't think it will last either, especially with Revenge as a lead in which will probably only do well enough to keep itself on air. Devious Maids must have been bad for them to opt for 666 instead.

I don't care how it lasts, I'll be watching it from the premiere. I love the cast and the story seems interesting enough.

I watched the finale tonight. While it was sad I couldn't help but notice that the show had overstayed its welcome by at least two seasons. Too bad this eliminated the possibility of a film someday.

Hey, there was an episode where Mary Alice talked in the end about health! She said that maybe there will be a day that we will not be able to climb the stairs of our home! Which episode is that?

Is it just me who finds the reruns embarrasing? It all looks so dated now it's over.

'The Miracle Song' from Series Three, which I re-watched earlier, is still my favourite episode. I love that the entire episode sets up the tired premise of Lynette letting her presumptions getting the best of her before ending on such a chilling note, with no actual resolution whatsoever. The issue itself was 'rocky ground' and those few episodes are just brilliant, exemplifying how good the writing once was.

I wouldn't say the show is dated at all, I could happily rewatch most episodes. It was such a well produced show.

Is The Miracle Song the one that ends the weird paedophile storyline? I've never been able to decide if that storyline was good or terrible, I keep changing my mind.

It is! The storyline was apparently cut short, through network pressure, but it's best that it was left as a three-four episode story arc as the show wouldn't have been able to justify taking it any further at all without seriously denoting all other comedic elements. The message of the entire arc seemed to falter somewhat as a result (It was pretty convoluted that the message of the plot initially seemed to condemn the spread of gossip before justifying it right at the end) but the acting was brilliant and, as said earlier, the ending was chilling.

Watching the complete box-set back, Teri Hatcher has had the brunt of awful storylines throughout, hasn't she?

I really enjoyed Susan's storylines in the first few seasons, she was actually my favourite. Then Bree took over and Susan started to become annoying. I think everyone's dislike for Teri Hatcher affected the stories they gave her towards the end, she was isolated from everyone else for most of Season 7.

I'm sorry but someone calling Desperate Housewives dated is the one of the most ridiculous opinions I have ever seen on an online forum.

I always wondered why that paedophile storyline ended weirdly too.

I've never liked Susan and I very much got that she was the 'star' from episode one. Bree and Edie were always my favourites.

OK - maybe "dated" was a bad choice of words. By the way, did we ever find out why the the other Housewives hated Teri Hatcher? What happened between her and Nicolette? I like to think it was pure jealousy because Edie was the most fabulous thing to ever happen to any show ever.

  22. #1847
Sorry, I think I came over all Desperate Housewives stan there. I believe that Marcia, Eva and Felicity got on, while Nicollette and Teri were closer to one another. However, she did call her the meanest woman in the world, yet Teri was supposedly this year saying that Nicollette is going to take her daughter horse riding? It's hard to keep up!

They're like Alexis and Crystal on Dynasty! I hope there's a fire in a cabin one day and they're trapped. Or Nicolette's impersonater takes over her life.

(I shouldn't know all that; I'm 19. I watched a LOT of fabulous Dynasty fights on YouTube in my early teens.)

In many ways it really is too bad that it ended up on a major network - the show was originally going to be a lot darker and less comedic, while ABC obviously wanted to play up the later. I remember watching the pilot with Sheryl Lee when it leaked and it was so good. Her tone of delivery had a lot more despair in it while Brenda Strong (who I like) was a lot more sing-songy.

I think the mix of dark things happening with the white fences and singy songy voice overs actually máde the show.. when they got it right.
