I don't think he would say 'She wasn't supportive' unless it was true. However, 'not supportive' doesn't have to mean she is homophobic. Admittedly homosexuality was a little bit less accepted back then and for someone breaking into the industry it's something important to consider. Maybe Britney was unsupportive in the way that she advised him against going into his career as an 'out' gay man.

He apparently never said she was unsupportive. Just another tall tale crazy Britney stans made up. The notion of her not being in full Lady Gaga gay support mode just wasn't surprising to me.

Geez.. now everyone is debating the crazy/non crazy of Don Phillips! The whole thing was really quite sad. I feel sorry for the guy, I can only imagine how bitter and jealous he must be. I'm a huge Britney fan, but I can admit she didn't make it based upon talent. It must be tough for the guy watching her become the biggest pop star in the world whilst he struggles with regret and "what it's".... Hell, I get jealous when I see someone from highschool on facebook and I think their life is better than mine..
Of course I am... I'm traumatized...

It's so strange to see how the music industry works. I remember being younger and assuming that if you're making songs, you're filthy rich. No ifs, ands or buts. To see someone trying out for XFactor who recently put out two albums really puts things into perspective.

  5. #24855
Yeah, it must be a bit strange for him that someone who he worked on a song with is now in the position to judge him for his talent (and to say no!).

I loved Britney's response now that I've heard it. Wasn't a cop-out, yet wasn't really a shady-ass attack either. Played her cards well.

He does seem a bit cray cray, but can you imagine the amount of internet hate he's getting? We all know how hard Britney stans go when it comes to things on the internet (polls, Twitter trends, Popjustice rates etc).
Yeah because Lady Gaga is the only pop star of this generation to have an iconic anthematic song. California Gurls says hi. *Eye roll*

Hahaha, Don Philip! Imagine in 10 years time Britney makes her triumphant return to the X Factor panel:

Simon: "Ok, our first contestant is a lady from California who goes by the name Sabi"
    Britney: "Oh shit...."

Oh my god, the worst thing is that I can actually see that happening. What a flop.

Sabi. Ugh. Just one of the many reasons Femme Fatale was such a damn mess. I don't know that I've ever heard such a weak rap feature in a pop song before.

What I don't understand is why we didn't just get a Nicki feature. I mean, they went on TOUR together, and her part on the Till the World Ends remix was really good. She could have sold Drop Dead Beautiful on about a million levels better than Sabi.
    Janet.

You think "steaming like a pot full of vegetables" is weak?!!

    Honestly, homophobe?
You all know that she can actually be a homophobe but being forced to work with these people, right?
We can't know what she actually believes about the topic. But of course, if she actually was a homophobe she couldn't say anything as music industry is full of gay people.
I don't know if she actually is or isn't. I haven't quite understood anything about her personality.

TJ is the dancer you're referring to haha. I always loved him - especially his "present" in the 1999 VMA performance. He's aged pretty horrifically. I once heard a rumour that they slept together! I wonder if it's true. Maybe she was trying to cure him of his homosexuality?

Of course Britney Spears is not a homophobe. What a ridiculous conversation.

Why is it so ridiculous? It could make sense...

  16. #24866
Yes, it is ridiculous and quite frankly a baseless and nasty accusation.

What a ridiculous discussion based on nothing. Just stop.

I don't think she is either, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. Until recently I was dancing for a local singer, my gay friend was managing her, my other gay friend was her hair stylist...and then she got offered a performance slot at our city's gay pride festival and turned it down because of her religious beliefs and told us she didn't agree with the 'gay lifestyle.' Needless to say, we all quit.

Britney didn't choose to have a big gay following, but she got one. She could just be accepting of her following as opposed to actual homosexuality. And look at it this way: her father is quite strict, she came from the South. There's every possibility that she is homophobic.

  20. #24870
Yes. Anyone could be a homophobe. This still has no relevance to anything.

Seriously. Nail-gate was bad but this scrapes the barrel.

She openly said in an interview that she wouldn't care if her boys were gay and that ''love is love''. You can explore the possibility all you like, but she wouldn't bring her children into it if she was truly homophobic. I can't believe that this is even being discussed. It's so stupid.

  22. #24872
I find that hard to believe to be honest. She probably turned it down because a gay pride festival is kind of beneath her... no offence.

  23. #24873
    Britney's racist.

If you really want to find a group of people that Britney doesn't like, then look no further than fat people. At least there is evidence to support that.

  25. #24875
She called the paparazzi a pussy too. That was clearly a homophobic remark.
