I desperately want a Lady Gaga/Britney collaboration that isn't a pseudo-thing (and not very good) like Quicksand. Written by Gaga of course, but tailored to fit both of them.
Damn you, Britney's team..and damn you, Beyonce...and damn you Lady Gaga. Telephone would've been perfect. Damn all parties involved all to hell for not allowing it to happen.
So the only people that bought Femme Fatale are her fans, but if she made an album of mid tempo electronica that a percentage of aforementioned fans want it would sell more?
I would kill for an album of Breathe on Me-esque material, but let's not delude ourselves- if she wants to become au courant, she needs something introspective, intelligent, AND catchy.
Although I appreciate how your post had some kind constructive criticism. Your flood of posts regarding how shit Britney is made me think you were APC with a different username.
On the flip side, she continues as she is and releases Damita Jo's and 20 y.o.'s.
She needs to do something believable, that still has a classic Britney feel.
And is my copy of Circus corrupt? What's with all the 'Blur' love on here? Someone youtube me this great song because all I've ever known is a weak piece of filler which makes Mmm Papi sound epic in comparison.
I still think it would sell more because it would be something different. The singles probably wouldn't, but as an ALBUM it would sell more because more of the fans would be interested (and more people in general if word got around). The singles would suffer almost undoubtedly, though, unless they had a few Max Martin club bangers to tide radio over...and when you think about it, singles matter more these days because high singles sales bring in a lot more money than mediocre album sales. So, I don't know. All I know is, I want Britney to change up the pace and stop fucking around with Dr. Luke.
I am an awful lot like APC, am I not? Strange things, strange things.
Hun did you not come out already?
*sigh* lol, no.

^ I heard that too. They were done with 3?
Would there possibly be less label interference next time around since Britney's technical on RCA now, rather than Jive?
I don't think so. RCA are VERY interfering.
Even so, I still think the fact that she's "Britney Spears" has a lot of weight. If she isn't okay with the direction an album is going in, I doubt anyone would, or be able to force her into a sound.
It seemed to me that Femme Fatale was more Max Martin and Dr. Luke's album, and she was okay with that.
Have you guys not thought of the possibility of the earlier songs recorded didn't work out? I mean, not all the songs recorded in the beginning will be worthy of putting on the final tracklist. For all we know, Britney could've said "Wait, this song is cool and would totally kill as a lead single. But the rest of the songs we recorded earlier don't fit with the sound. (To the record label) You reckon we could get people in to write more songs like it?" Especially with a killer first single (usually one of the songs recorded last) like Womanizer, the rest of the album would have to follow the sound, otherwise it would sound out of place or "not cohesive enough" as critics like to complain about. I mean Womanizer, Circus, Shattered Glass, If U Seek Amy, Unusual You, Mmm Papi, Lace and Leather, all are pretty much spot on in terms of sounding fun, exciting, pop and electronic, right?
I do feel all this fun, fizzy pop she's put out makes me feel like she's trying to cover up her past and move on. She's happy now, so she might be trying to show that in her music. As for bringing in Dr. Luke/Max Martin/Shellback/etc., they did write and produce the best songs off Circus, so it was definitely a no brainer for them. However, I just think it was the wrong time with everyone else using them when they released Femme Fatale.

Wasn't Femme Fatale her first release that involved RCA though? Barry Weiss left before Femme Fatale was released, and Jive was officially dissolved in October 2011.
The story I heard was that the reason for the direction change of Femme Fatale was because it was going to be one of the very last releases of Jive and they wanted it to be as commercial as possible to ensure $uccess and squeeze out a few more dollars before the merge. Especially, if label heads knew how little promotion Britney was planning to do, it wouldn't be very wise to put out some experimental William Orbit or Rusko track and just expect the public to eat it up.
But it's definitely a Jive release. I copy was, at least.
Yes, officially it was a Jive release. But what I was getting at was RCA probably had some input cos they knew Jive were dissolving in a few months. The press listening parties for Hold It Against Me and the album were all held at RCA offices.
Femme Fatale could have been an amazing campaign in the hands of a caring Britney and a team that wasn't so afraid of trying new things regarding album artwork, marketing, interviews, etc.
But it ended up as more of the same (even though they were trying to deviate from that with all the "grimy sound" talk. Lots of talk but when it came time to show it, they went back to the same old Britney from before).
Even her main hairstyle has been the same since In The Zone.
The problem with Britney is she's not even a robot that can be molded. She seems to be very strict with what she does regarding her career (music videos, dance routines, hair, etc).

Its a very valid criticism for someone like Britney who has spent a large portion of her career trading on her looks. She's trapped in the same style, look and sound. As for the Beyone and Madonna compairison...at least they try new looks and styles. Brit never does.
You can't have it both ways and play up your looks and your body then cry foul when criticized for doing that.
Britney's career has never been about 'trading looks', though. She's never done the 'reinvention' thing - the transition of her image has been a general progression.
Yes, it's stagnated now - but so has every single aspect of her music career so it's just the case of seeing if she does anything else 'of note' now or if she is officially in the 'Post-All For You' part of her career. The thing she has on her side is age, she's still very young.
And sorry, but when did Beyonce ever diverge from 'plain'?!

Beyonce's a weird one, I wouldn't say she's ever actually done anything exceedingly notable to shape music, but there's a perception she's some highly innovative musical artist. You'd get a funny look off of most people if you proclaimed to them that Britney's been more influential in shaping music than her, but it's quite easily true.
