I think this has a good chance of being number one.

I'm on board, campaign for 'Parachute' to be #1!  Parachutes should be distributed to all, immediately, for activation in the club.

She will have lots of press with the looming publicity coming. A Parachute Ashley definitely isn't.

Is that like the looming press that was supposed to materialise this weekend?

How can you guarantee this? Are we speaking to Mama Tweedy here?

Could Cheryl crack the US?  Don't dismiss that question out of hand just because it's Cheryl.  What are her chances?

Damn, my cover is blown. No, but Cheryl has incredibly strong values. She's stated many times that she believes in the concept of marriage, and I cannot imagine her, rightly or wrongly, throwing away everything good with Ashley for his mistakes.

I do not pretend to speak for Cheryl! Personally if he's done anything equally as stupid as last time then he obviously hasn't learned from his mistakes and isn't worth the trouble.

If she was willing to put the work in (and thereby probably delaying the return of Girls Aloud), I really do think she could. She has the talent, a great 21st century rags to riches story, and some of her songs could easily fit on American radio. I'm not sure she wants to fully commit to it at this point though.

I don't know if she really can, though. Why is she different from (e.g.) Ciara? Both stunning girls, excellent dancers (although Ciara's better by far on this front), have patchy material, and neither are renowned for their singing ability. Also, Ciara's got the additional bonus of being American, and yet hasn't really achieved that much success in America.

Simon Cowell might make a difference, obviously, and if she becomes a judge on the US X Factor she's 'made it' (which I don't really think she will - Katy was very good on American Idol!). Without Simon's uttermost backing, she hasn't really got a big chance.

I thought she wanted to have kids soon, though? Suppose if her marriage is - allegedly - going down the drain, she might give it a big push.

With her current album, she won't crack America, I can almost guarantee it. If she decides to make a couple uptempo songs that are worth a shit she may be able to. However, if she decides to come to America with a name like Cheryl Tweedy (no speculation here, of course!) she's going have a much harder time.

Also, Simon Cowell really isn't that much of a force in America. Though I'm sure if he wanted to push someone (though pushing Cheryl in America won't do a great deal for him), he could get Ryan Seacrest to play them on his radio show (his radio show is quite big) and book them a gig on a couple TV shows.

I agree.  With her current tracklisting, the album would not perform well here.  I think Parachute, would be an awesome lead single for the states, especially since the video has Derek in it.  Couple that with a simultaneous release of 3 Words to the dance charts and then perhaps the buzz would grow.  But after that, there would be nothing else to give the states.  She'd need to record some new material that is a bit more memorable than what her current album has to offer and then, if she was a judge of X-Factor here or had the right performances booked, she could do it.
But from what you all say, it just sounds like she is not about all that effort right now.

I agree, although it looks like her name is merely double barreled.
