I use to love it is as a kid. The sequel is worse, which means its even better.
It was the sequel that Shockbox was talking about. The first movie isn't actually bad for what it is. It's well put-together and, like Ronseal, does exactly what it says on the tin.
The second -
Annihilation - is awful. It played at my cinema for a week and did fuck all business compared to the first one's substantial take. You could tell it was going to be shit when they killed off Johnny Cage instantly, and also all the cast members bar Robin Shou and Talisa Soto changed. (Christopher Lambert becoming Dexter's dad is my favourite swap there) Also, the end credits ran at the slowest possible speed, because the film was under time and they used the credits length to bump it up to the required length for a feature.
Couple of not bad tracks on the OST though.
