"Fire" Audio clip

Electro duo NiteVisions are Andy and John Taylor, the sons of Duran Duran members Andy and Roger Taylor. Their 80s sound and image is influenced by their fathers as well as Depeche Mode and Gary Numan. Used to feature Simon LeBon's nephew on drums. True. Brian Higgins: «The best bits about synths and guitar-led pop rolled into one.»
Key track: "Fire"

I adore "Duran Duran" and it's nice to see their offspring picking up where the band left in 1981. There's a bit of Cut Copy, Preston, OMD, Zoot Woman and even La Roux in there, with the added bonus of Xenomania wizardry and the novelty factor of a hot Boy-Duo. Has Mr. PJ heard more of their material? It's all a bit hush hush at the moment.

And I thought the whole 80s thing was going to be over soon...

When i read about them a few weeks ago they sounded like the most amazing thing ever. I'm a massive Duran Duran fan and what with this Xenomania involvement, my god it sounds like pop heaven. That clip of 'Fire' sounds well good, can't wait to hear more from these.

Is it weird to feel weird about Xenomania tracks being sung by boys?
To me, Xenomania tracks come with plenty of sass. Can boys deliver sass without it being gay? I went to school with Andy Taylor and I always thought he was a bit bendy. I suppose it all depends on the material... I'm sure I'll love it just because Xenomania are involved, even if the boys themselves turn out to be a bit... gay.

I think it's interesting you mention that, because Duran Duran to me are quintessentially the forefathers of Girls Aloud, mixing various different sounds with nonsensical lyrics and creating explosive Pop juggernauts. Plus Simon LeBon had a lot of sass in his delivery.

Aye, without the likes of Duran Duran, New Order and Depeche Mode there'd never be the 'Girls Aloud' sound we have today, both in terms of synth/guitars blend and perfect pop melodies, but also like you mentioned, the nonsensical lyrics. Simon LeBon is one of the great vocalists of the 80s, his delivery so destinctive, especially on classics like Rio and the Chauffeur.

Mini Viva have proved that Xenomania has just as much a knack at launching small perfectly crafted pop duo's so hopefully NiteVisions will have a shot at success too.

I take it the darker one is Rogers son? Now if I was 15 years younger.

Where do I get to hear some of their material? I hope they aren't all image and no substance.

EDIT Just found the link to 'Fire'

Boy, their vocals are nothing special.

I found a bit more about their previous line-up including Simon's son on drums that Brian mentioned:

THE DURAN DURAN DYNASTY GOES ON

Wednesday August 20,2008
DESPITE gigging for the last two years, recently signed band The Electric City have been harbouring a well-kept secret: three of their members are related to stars of Eighties’ pop sensation Duran Duran.

Andy Taylor’s son Andy J Taylor is the singer, guitarist James Cantone is the offspring of Roger Taylor and drummer Dan Laithwaite is singer Simon Le Bon’s nephew.

Despite managing to keep their famous connections close to their chests, the London-based quartet, completed by bass player Jonny Bullit, have already been earning rave reviews.

After a support slot at a Teenage Cancer Trust gig last year, news of their impressive performance filtered through to The Who’s frontman Roger Daltrey, who recently asked them to support him at another TCT concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

The foursome are in good company, with a number of new groups featuring the children of famous rockers currently making their presence felt, including George Harrison’s son Dhani’s  thenewno2 and Sting’s daughter Coco Sumner’s band I Blame Coco.

But will they get hordes of middle-aged Duran Duran groupies turning up in case any of the older Wild Boys are there?

According to their Twitter, they are 50% finished with the album.

And I was quoted by the Guardian, how amazing is that?

They're both really attractive, too.

...Also I like the name: NiteVisions.
