I wasn't too sure about Darin doing MF but I've warmed to the idea now .. I hope Danny tales part too, Mans will probably take a break this year .. I hope Linda Bengtzing gives it one more chance now she's started to do English stuff and obviously Amy Diamond will be making up the numbers, maybe Ola will have a bash now he's kind of back in the buisness. Whatever like, I'm sure I'll love it cause it's Darin!

According to the SVT website (via Google translator), they are knocking out one finalist every day from now until the 11th, which will leave three songs left in contention. They will then announce the final winner on the 12th.

EDIT: So they're down to 8 now, as 'How' by Halla Vilhjalmsdottir has been eliminated.

Did I mention the duels, a rule responsible for leaving BWO out of the final and therefore hated with passion, are definitely gone next year? All confirmed by Mr Björkman himself! Yay!

It's a disgrace! The webjoker is now destined to for #8! If that horrible Ingela woman wins I'll cry. She doesn't deserve to be a part of the Greatest Competition in the History of Music. Especially with such an obvious Roxette rip-off. The same goes for that hideous "My Kind Of Love" song which might be the worst song I've ever heard.

While I realise they probably won't do that well, I'm hoping for "Break Free" or "Come And Get Me Now". Jessica has a nice voice and is Andra chansen-material. "Come And Get Me Now" sounds a bit like ABBA with some synths. And the singers look nice!

Another song is gone in 5 hours. Looks like it's going to be the shit "I'll Make You Want Me" so it won't be a disaster. "Come And Get Me" is currently in the lead!

1. "Come And Get Me"
2. "My Kind Of Love" (he must have a lot of friends because no one votes for this crap, right?!)
3. "Break Free"
4. "Kärleken Vänder Allt"
5. "Love For People"
6. "När Vi Har Landat"
7. "I'll Make You Want Me"

Dear lord, the 6 remaining songs are a truly appalling collection. I couldn't find the time to work my way through the 100+ songs that were first announced but there's no way on this earth that the remaining half dozen are the very best of the entries. My Kind Of Love is hilariously bad and that drivel Love For People has to be a pisstake surely.

Have to say it doesn't really matter which of this pile of dreck makes it to the contest, they don't have a prayer of winning. I'd put money on Darin being Christ(er)'s chosen one this year......his path to the Final will be smoothed along very nicely and I fully expect him to perform last on MF Finals Night.

...and the presenters have been announced! I'm quite shocked actually, I never would've guessed who they picked.

Dolph Lundgren - actor known from James Bond in the 80s, he also dated Grace Jones.
Måns Zelmerlöw - popstar, you all know who he is!
Christine Meltzer - Swedish comedian/tv-show personality. She led Popstars the year Martin Rolinski from BWO entered, but she's best known from the popular SNL-type show Hej Baberiba.

No Petra Mede though. That's a shame.

I'm not even sure the inclusion of Måns makes Petra's omission any acceptable! MF FAIL!!

Only just read the host news over at Scandipop.  One of you could have PM'd me that I'd need to brace myself for something earth shattering, and to get the paramedics on standby before I logged on!...

Petra - you'll always be in our hearts as the funniest, most gorgeous Melodifestivalen host of all time. *cries a bit*

Over at the Webbjokern contest, the Kelly Clarkson-tastic "Break Free" is now number one, and the hideous "My Kind Of Love" has now left the building*. Personally I don't really care who wins now, they're all destined for a life outside the final anyway...

*THANK GOD!! Etc etc.

Salem Al Fakir has been announced as the second joker! He'll be competing with the song "Keep On Walking". He's done some pretty good tracks in the past. Here are some of them: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.channel&contributorid=1394564

OH HELL NO.

So I befriended someone named 'Petra Mede' on Facebook and couldn't really tell if it was a fake profile page or her actual page (signs were pointing to the former, although we did share Velvet as a mutual friend, so I figured there was a shot). I took the chance and sent 'Petra' a message saying that it was a disgrace that she wasn't coming back to host Melodifestivalen this year and that I knew many people agreed with me. (And then I chuckled and said, if this is a fake profile, I've just made an arse out of myself.)

AND 'PETRA' UNFRIENDED ME!

So she better hope that it was just some chucklehead pretending to be her and wasn't actually her own page, because I will throw down Sweden-stylee if I need to.
