For those who, just like me, can't wait to see Danyl perform again here's a brief summary of his 'journey' so far (and no, that's not a spot-the-difference type of game).

One day that microphone is just going to vanish and we'll be left with a worried looking Danyl clutching his stomach.

^ On the third one down, he looks like Tony off Corrie.
According to some other sites, John! And! Edward!  will be performing 'Ghostbusters' on Saturday.    That'll be another week in the competition for them, then!
I wanted them to do the 'Spiderpig' theme song.
Does anyone know who the celebrity mentor is next week?

I watched his 'I Didn't Know My Own Strength' performance again and you can literally see his fillings.

Lloyd is a brilliant singer but he is not an X Factor singer. He hasn't got the pipes to fill up an entire stage. He's got a good tone to his voice and needs to record an album of bluesy wind-pop.

What the fuck is wind-pop, please?

Didn't it make Charlie and his Grandpa fly in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

Maybe - I was still bemused by 'Lloyd is a brilliant singer' but then 'wind-pop' really knocked me sideways.

Maybe brilliant was a bit of a strong word but he's not bad. And wind-pop is a term i've used for ages, it's that James Morrison/Jason Mraz/James Blunt style guitar pop.

Firstly, I'd already heard the Jedward song choice earlier today (and am completely beside myself with anticipation, and already mentally voting), but to repeat the requests by many earlier in this thread, a bit of a spoiler warning before launching straight into it would be common courtesy.

I don't necessarily mean it as a criticism (even I've warmed to them over the weeks). But much like Chico, they were never going to be taken seriously as a singing act and can hope for novelty status at best.

Completely agree that they're headed for cult/novelty status, but let's not forget that the Cheeky Girls had a more sustained chart career than Leon Jackson, so maybe this is no bad thing.

I've gotta say, I really do love the fact that Cheryl seems to have it in for Danyl, for whatever the reason is. Considering she said 'you just don't do it for me,' I feel confident in suggesting that she's not on Team Danyl. Not to say that Cheryl is the 'Paula equivalent' of the X Factor, but I just can't imagine Paula ever saying something like that. (I feel like most times the judges find ways to cloak their critiques in something else and don't ever come out and say 'I just don't like you.')

Ha ha, yes she got away with that brilliantly didn't she?  Considering Ruthie Henshall got a major public backlash for saying that to Roxanne Pallett on Dancing On Ice earlier this year...

Much of what I've seen written about them doesn't have the same malice behind it as the stuff that's been written about Danyl. That is real hate.

I read that they got some death threats, which scores fairly high on the malice/hate front.  Hopefully they were not sincere threats, but folk just mouthing off, but then the same could be said for most of the criticism anyone get.

Some folk might think that the booing is all hilarious and pantomime, but it's bang out of order, and they are faced with it on camera.  Danyl's bad press is on obscure bits of the internet or in newspapers he'd probably never given the time of day to until he became famous.

He's perfectly entitled to be shocked and upset by some of what has been said, but he should be able to control his emotions better while he's in public.  He has studied drama, so even if he feels shit, he should be able to act as if he is holding it together.

Back to the important stuff.  Jedward doing Ghost Busters is the highlight of my day.  Possibly my week.

Hopefully a few of the others will get the odd mention in the press.  Danyl and Jedward getting all of the press might help to keep them in the show, and it might help to keep ratings and voting figures up, but it's not going to help the show get a worthy winner, nor will it help that winner sell loads of records.

Some people shouldn't think about who might have the best possible chances of being a Popstar with a substantial career ahead of them.

Leona Lewis and Kelly Clarkson aren't the rule, they are the exception.

"X Factor" is a Television Event first and a Talentsearch second. Have one album and a two hit singles, then disappear into obscurity. That's it.

But ever since Series 3, many people such as Girls Aloud did raise the bar for reality acts however it was Leona that set a new higher standard for reality shows' and the publics expectation from them. People actually look for a star now unlike S1 or 2 when people expected the winner to just vanish into thin air after an album or two if they were lucky to get that far and record their own material.

America in a way was very lucky to get Kelly Clarkson as their first winner of American Idol as she set the standard high to being with while it took the UK a couple of years for the public to take The X Factor seriously.

The X-Factor is a singing competition primarily, just because it doesn't have the word 'sing' in the title doesn't make it any less of a singing competition.
Acts' get put through because of their vocals 90% of the time while then a marginal few get put through by producers to generate public discussion e.g Jedward. However, or should I say unfortunately they actually got through to the live shows by some weird miracle but I do think that is more down to the producers input/judging capability.

I sure as hell don't vote (Well I can't vote for X-Factor, roll on next year) or look out for an artist I want to win to record mediocre rubbish, I want them to make it and to produce quality material e.g Alexandra last year.

This is kind of unrelated but I don't want to double post so I will say it here, Isn't it funny that Cheryl and Dannii both said yes to Jedward to piss off Simon and it now them who have suffered because of it by having lost one act each (so far) at the expense of them being in the competition?

I actually really like the Ghostbusters song so John&Edward will be completely amazing. I'm actually tempted to vote for them and I never vote on these shows. Except when Stephanie Beacham did Strictly.

Kind of true, but you're forgetting that X Factor's predecessor, Pop Idol, produced Will Young who the public were taking very seriously by the time X Factor series 1 was on air. His second album was well and truly a success by then, cementing him as a pop star beyond his initial prize contracted album.

Apparently both Lloyd and Danyl are unable to perform this week due to throat infections. It would be a complete mockery if both of them got free passes this week, especially as they are the only acts to have been in the bottom two meaning it's most likely one of them would have to go.

CONSPIRACY TO GET JEDWARD OUT ALERT!

Also, it probably would help Danyl's throat if he didn't start screaming random notes halfway through his songs each time.

AMAZING. The Ruth Lorenzo that Dannii is following on Twitter (which leads me to believe it's probably the real Ruth Lorenzo and not just some faker) has just written:

It does seem a trifle convenient. Who wants to bet Simon forced the two of them together so Danyl could catch what Lloyd has? Like a pox party.
