Not surprisingly the biggest hit to come out of this year's Eurovision was the Norwegian winner..

Alexander Rybak: #1 in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Belgium (Flanders), Greece; #2 in
Ireland, Netherlands, #3 in Iceland, Switzerland, #4 in Germany, Belgium (Wallonia), #10 in the UK, #12 in Austria, #35 in Spain, #67 in Australia

The song that came second was also the next biggest hit:
Yohanna (Iceland) ; #1 in Iceland, #2 in Sweden, #3 in Norway, #4 in Finland, #4 in Greece, #9 in Switzerland, #16 in Denmark, #23 Belgium (Flanders), #28 in Ireland, #49 in the UK

Next came Turkey's 4th place song:
Hadise: Belgium (Flanders) #1, Greece #3, Sweden #12, Germany #16, Belgium (Wallonia) #24, Finland #29, Switzerland #73, Netherlands #99 (no news from Turkey itself)

more to follow....

I always wondered how the UK ended up giving Germany 7 points, it's all clear now!

It's funny how out of sync the judges vote was with the public vote. Mind you, with the public voting for Lithuania, addressing the balance can only be a good thing.

Do you have the Swedish votes as well, Charley?

Thanks! I can't believe how good the Swedish votes were, apart from two songs my entire Final top 10 is the same (with a few songs switched). Verenigd Koninkrijk must be the UK, right?

James, do keep in mind that Sweden must've voted the most for Norway. Partly because, well, we do love our Western neighbours and partly because the song had already gained popularity here through radio airplay.

+ because it was a great song!

I wasn't being negative or anything, I think it's a brilliant Eurovision song, and it totally deserved to win

Oh sorry, I had no idea the list wasn't entirely in English! Just fixed it.

And yes, Verenigd = United and Koninkrijk = Kingdom!

5 Points - Greece
4 Points - Lithuania
3 Points - Azerbaijan
2 Points - Ukraine
1 Point - France

2 of my least favourites: Germany and Turkey.    I'll get my coat.

Meanwhile, anyone done any analysis of the Lithuanian votes from the UK and Ireland?  They do seem to get suspiciously impressive televotes consistently each year.

Irish votes to Lithuania:
2005 - (semi-final; didn't qualify) 5 points (out of just 17 total)
2006 - (semi-final) 12 points
2006 - (final) 12 points
2007 - 12 points (out of just 28 total)
2008 - (semi-final; didn't qualify: ineligible to vote)
2009 - 7 points

UK votes to Lithuania:
2005 - (semi-final; didn't qualify) 4 points (out of just 17 total)
2006 - (semi-final) 10 points
2006 - (final) 10 points
2007 - 3 points (out of just 28 total)
2008 - (semi-final; didn't qualify: 8 points)
2009 - televote: 8 points

Not that I'm suggesting anything of course.

OK then, I'll say it.

Remove those three and you have the 'correct' UK televote.

Thanks be to the Jury.

I was a bit upset since I couldn't follow the Eurovision this year as it was the same week I was in the UK to see Girls Aloud, but I'm glad Norway won, I quite like the song.

This isn't 2009-related, but just a random comment that doesn't warrant a new thread...

Isn't it annoying that Estonia won in 2001 when their songs in 2000 and 2002 were sooooo much better, and both poptastic gems in their own right?

2001 could then have been left for Greece and France to battle it out.

It's been a month since anything was posted on this board.  Anywhere.

A whole month.  I get that it's seasonal, but still...

Eurovision.  WE WILL NOT FORGET.

Germany has announced that there'll be a TV show like the BBC one where they search for a talent to represent us in next years competition.

Firstly, one of the composers of 'Et Cetera' has released his own Italian version of the 2009 Irish entry.

And then secondly, Sietse Bakker (the (hot) Dutch guy who used to write for esctoday.com and who is now something important at Eurovision) has announced in a YouTube video that the full split voting will be revealed on the 31st of July.

Geek heaven!  It'll be interesting to see what the outcome would have been had the same voting methodology been used as in the last decade...

All I can say is... thank Christ for the jury vote!

It offends my very core that Russia would otherwise have landed in the top 10 with the most hideous sound to eminate from a defending nation in quite some time (after the mighty hat trick of Greece 2006, Finland 2007 and Serbia 2008 being lessons in how to defend your win with dignity).

Also, the concept of Iceland finishing as low down as fourth and (most depressing of all) the prospect of France not even finishing in the Top 10...?!  That would have been the most hideous slap in the face for one of the evening's classiest and most iconic moments.
