I must thank you as well! I missed this and in all seriousness I can't be arsed to sift through what is no doubt three pages of bitching to find it.

That would be a total disaster.

Why the Xtra Factor?  That's where Mutya was last year.  I thought the 'Sugababes' would be on the main show?

The official website announced the capital thing so you can't blame me for that. The Scottish Daily Record are the one's announcing the Xtra Factor slot.

Sugababes1 had great voices but not a lot else going for them.

This isn't true though.  Certain people seem to think the original Sugababes were huge flops but One Touch sold more than Catfights (as you know) and Overload and New Year did okay.  Overload is a song that still gets into polls for Best Single.  Their singles collection is named after it.  It is still THE Sugababes song.  And without the first era, Heidi would still be doing panto, or singing with Atomic Kittenalikes.  Well, I suppose she's got there in the end.  But my point is that the first Sugababes weren't shit until Heidi came along.  She was such a bonus to the group in those days though.  She's so wonderful on Angels With Dirty Faces.  But after a while she becomes less and less worthwhile...

That's just not true. From the moment they came out they were so visually seperate from other groups. Whatever people say Mutya is so memorable- her style, her looks... it's inimitable. Also, they had this whole new generation thing going on... the press was always banging on about them being "multi-ethnic." It gave them a huge cross-over fanbase. It wasn't like the Spice Girls where there was four white girls and one black girl. It was so much more.. "real"(girls)!

There was also something so languid and effortless about them.

I do like Siobhain's voice, but it is too sweet and pretty for me. But, mixed with Mutya's "edge" and Keisha's "oomph" they really had a special combination.

First it was Amelle who made the babes "shit", now Heidi.
Now I've heard everything.
Heidi ditched Atomic Kitten due to their sound/shitness, she's not naive. She would have got her break regardless of whether with the Sugababes or elsewhere..
Siobhan also had TWO chances to connect with the general public in regards to her solo material too. Her and Alexis Strum should start a two piece band.

2.0's albums would've done just as well if Siobhan was still in the group though. It was the music and a record label that actually had faith in them. Heidi mostly only sung the bridges and scraps until Change.

Exactly.  I remember seeing Overload for the first time and just loving how sullen they looked.  Heidi sort of ruined that but then they couldn't continue the whole laconic thing forever I suppose.

The more I listen to them and the more we talk about this, the more I really want some kind of new Sugababes project to happen, but it has to be with Keisha as well.  I can understand why Heidi is so rattled with this and it's probably not very nice to endure but I've got no sympathy for her anymore.  It's not in me.  The other two aren't worth any consideration at all.

I wonder whether Freak Like Me would have been a #1 smash with Siobhan.  I think it probably would have.  But Round Round is a Heidi song and I can't imagine Siobhan doing it.

First it was Amelle who made the babes "shit", now Heidi.

No you haven't.  Nobody here has said Heidi made them shit because nobody believes it.  We all love 2.0 (their defining era with the public) but Heidi has no claim to the originals and her fans need to accept that.  They've no choice.  If the original Sugababes (to some their best lineup) want to reform then I for one can't wait to see what happens.  IF it happens.

The point is that Freak Like Me and most of Angels With Dirty Faces would not have happened with Siobhan in the group. She would never have agreed on those songs and that image.

And I'm not convinced it would have been as successful had she agreed to do it either. Like it or not, the introduction of Heidi did change their image somewhat and allowed them to be sexier than they could have been with Siobhan as a member. It's not unreasonable to assume that Heidi was a better match than Siobhan to their more commercial sound.

Is it monday yet?

We'll never know how 1.0 would've done on their second album - but you're right. Even Siobhán admits that there would've been a stricter quality control from her part - which would probably lead to better albums... however, who knows if Siobhán would've done Freak or not! I could see her doing it...

Listen to Every Heart Broken. It would be great to hear Mutya sing this song.
Amelle sounds great on it, but it would be intresting anyway.

I'm guessing people who don't like the new line are  truly  running this thread when people actually start to believe Heidi 'ruined' the Sugababes (all while giving them one of their biggest albums). But, wait, I thought it was Amelle (who was apart of the successful About You Now, Girls, and Get Sexy) that ruined them? It's all very confusing.

Amelle is the Yoko Ono of the Sugababes. Heidi has nothing to do with it apart from having poor judgement and no sense of loyalty or industry smarts, Amelle and Keisha were the ones who the issue with each other while I'm sure Heidi was just the mediator who got put in an awkward position. It's hard to hate on Heidi, she's too sweet and adorable and her voice is one of the most underrated in pop.

This isn't an attack against you, but how could you know who exactly the conflict was with? Keisha could have been getting on both Amelle and Heidi's nerve. Plus, I think Heidi has fine 'industry smarts'. Did you expect her to let go of her record deal to follow behind some big bully/diva? Now, that would of been dumb.

Heidi, Jade and Amelle will be on tonights Xtra Factor.

This will be hysterical to watch, bring out the popcorn guys!!!

I wonder if Heidi will cry on que again?

Amelle is the Yoko Ono of the Sugababes. I don't think Heidi ruined the Sugababes & nobody really knows how well they would've done had Siobhan not left.

Heidi was the only good thing about 3.0 in my opinion but out of all three lineups she did bring the least amount to the table & now I don't care for her.

We all make mistakes & like Mutya obviously now regrets leaving, Heidi will no doubt regret making the wrong decision when this all goes tits up & Amelle goes off to have her own solo career.

Amelle is the Yoko Ono of the Sugababes.
Except it isn't Yoko's fault if John Lennon was VERY obsessed with her. Also, she's a genius and the queen of noise music.

Amelle, if anything, is the John Yule of the Sugababes.

Or it could be the polar opposite. Sort of like, when the album does well like the 3 other line-up changes before it has, and Keisha's solo 'effort' doesn't do as well as expected. Are expectations even that high?

Fair point but I think the Movida interview and gig with Keisha and Heidi proves that they had great chemistry and affection with each other and they must be pretty amazing actresses to fake that. Amelle missing a lot of gigs surely indicates who the problem was between her and one of the other two, and seeing as she's in the band with Heidi and seeing as Keisha had no clue about it, Amelle broke up the band to me. But yes, none of us will ever know for sure until Keisha's autobiography is released, and I will be first in line.

I am hotly awaiting their rumoured Xtra Factor appearance, even though I don't expect much from Vanillababes these days except some fake smiles and Heidi in tights.

I know what you mean, they looked so happy on stage & as a fan you really could not see this coming.

I spotted it with Kelle in Eternal, Heavenli in Honeyz, Siobhan & Mutya in Sugababes, Mimi in Brownstone & Dawn in En Vogue (I think its my curse) but I really didn't see this coming. With Amelle going yes but not what happened to Keisha.

I like to think that Heidi was put in an impossible situation by management to side with Amelle & it will become all so clear when we find out who is managing Keisha, because it its Mark, that certainly puts a different spin on this.

A Keisha autobiography would be awesome but I fear like with Shane Lynch of Boyzone, the lawyers will demand so much be removed it will never see the light of day.
