Please try to remember that you're rating the video and not the song. Things like how well the concept reflects the lyrics of the song and how well the editing matches the tempo are valid criteria for your scores, but giving a high mark just because you like the song misses the point!

After four straight months of Oricon and Imaduck's domination, I'm here to take charge. And just in time, honestly, as ‘six’ is oh such an important, yet overlooked, number. On one hand, it was only by her sixth single that Madonna truly burst into superstardom (I'm talking about Like a Virgin here), on the other, Sugababes went completely tits up after their sixth studio album. So what will Popjustice Song Contest's fate be after this groundbreaking landmark?

After last edition's record setting numbers, we just got some extra budget and, for the first time ever, were able to hire a fierce hostess.

"I'd like to welcome everyone to the sixth monthly Popjustice Song Contest. Rules are very simple, so let me walk you through them: for the first part, you'll submit any song you want and the veto panel will then step in to make sure no one is counting on a popular artist to score big points. For the next part, all songs are revealed and you have to vote for the ones you like best. At the end, the one who submitted this amazing lost jam of mine will win, leaving whoever dared to send this Tyra Banks' atrocity ashamed with zero points at the bottom of the scoreboard."

Now for the boring and more complete set of rules and procedures that Naomi couldn't be bothered to memorize:

Submission

Pick any song you like from a lesser known artist and send me a PM with the song's name, the artist and a link (youtube, soundcloud etc). Make sure the link is not restricted to any location, as we have people from all over the world in this forum/contest.
All submissions will be displayed in the post right below this one, where you'll also be able to see whether they're pending, approved or vetoed.

Veto Panel

This contest is about unknown jams that you want to share with your fellow competitors. To make sure we have an even playing field with no popular act garnering votes from the get go, the veto panel will examine every entry and veto the ones they see fit. If your song happens to be vetoed, you'll be PMed by me asking you to change your entry, in case you still want to take part in the contest.

Voting

After the submission period, all the songs will be revealed and each user will have to score them as follow:

12 points: favorite song
10 points: second favorite song
8 points: you guessed it, third favorite song goes here
7 points: etc
6 points: etc
5 points: etc
4 points: zzz
3 points: zzzz
2 points: hang on, it's almost over
1 point: 10th favorite

There you go! Bear in mind that you CANNOT vote for your own entry.
Obviously, the one with the most points will win, but there's no need for the last placed to be ashamed. Naomi is just a little too competitive, apparently.
In the case of a tie, the song that gets the higher place is the song that got the higher amount of higher points. For example, if Song A got two 12, while Song B got just one, Song A finishes higher.
If you do not vote, your song's score will be halved and you'll be banned from the next contest.
