Pros and cons of the noisy new will.i.am single ‘This Is Love’

Capital played will.i.am’s new single this morning.

You can listen to it here.

Or you can just read our handy pros and cons list.

PROS

  • Contains crowd noise and crowd noise is always brilliant
  • Could be regarded as an answer record to Aiden Grimshaw’s ‘Is This Love’, although it obviously isn’t
  • Is quite upbeat but isn’t strictly LOLpop
  • “Can you feel it good god oh yeah” has to be the new “this beat is a beat it is ridiculous can you hear the beat there it is” or whatever that lyric was
  • At least Mick Jagger doesn’t turn up and ruin everything
  • The Eva Simons bit sounds like ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’

CONS

  • Has a fairly perfunctory ‘drop’ that could have worked a lot harder, an oversight for which Steve so-called ‘Angello’ should be given a carpeting, and we don’t mean carpet tiles or some laminate flooring from Wickes, we mean a proper, right-up-to-the-skirting-boards Allied Carpets old fashioned fitted carpet carpeting. WITH A RUG ON TOP
  • Crap Auto Tune
  • Is a bit of a racket
  • The Eva Simons bit sounds like ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’

We’re giving this 7.3, which we expect to drop to a 5.9 over the coming days, rise to an 8 during June then eventually settle at a 6.2.
