From beyond the pop grave…

Posted by Popjustice on Dec 23 2002, 02:04

Too late for Christmas, sadly, but in the new year why not order import-only albums by Jimmy Ray, 21st Century Girls and Kavana? (The genius linking this trio of pop calamities? Mr Simon Fuller!) Beware: Popjustice in fact already owns the Jimmy Ray album – it’s not very good, but at least there are pictures of Jimmy Ray in it. In fact, better than Jimmy Ray’s solo stuff is AV, the band he was in before Fuller decided to turn him into a comedy Elvis caricature. We’ve only got two AV tracks (‘Urban Elite’ and ‘Timeflies’) and they’re great – real high octane pop with a futuristic Pet Shop Boys sort of vibe. We’d imagine more tracks exist somewhere as they were signed to Sony and major labels love recording entire albums with acts before unceremoniously dropping them reaching a mutual agreement to part company… Know any more about AV?
