The Popjustice Almighty: May 11 2012

And here's why…

1. Saint Lou Lou

These are the Swedish/Australian twins (!) whose debut single 'Maybe You' we made a Big Song recently. They are currently in the studio finishing off some more stuff and are about to shoot their 'Maybe You' video. We will report back when we know what is going on. We are very excited about this.

2. Sky Ferreira

About two months ago we got an email from Sky Ferreira. She wanted to do an interview THERE AND THEN. We eventually spoke to her the next day. The interview was really good. We were going to put it online, then she emailed and said we couldn't. Because we are not proper journalists we just did what the popstar told us. Anyway during the course of the interview she played us her new single (discussed by Shirley Manson here) which was really good. Obviously the leaked 'Lost In My Bedroom' is amazing too. Everything about this woman is amazing.

3. Eamonn Forde

Eamonn is a journalist who writes about music business things in a way that makes them unboring. His feature on 'Free' in the current issue of Q is 'quite something'. Here he is on Twitter.

4. Dragonette

OH CHRIST HOW MUCH DO WE LOVE THIS BAND. Actually you know how much we love this band. A LOT. Their current single 'Let It Go' is by some distance 2012's best single to feature the words 'let' and 'go' in its title, but  it's not even the best song from the band's new album. There is some great stuff to come.

5. Mark 'Spike' Stent

We reckon if you pick ten of your favourite CDs off a shelf, open all the CD booklets up and look in the small print at least three of those albums will feature Mark Stent's name somewhere. (If you have 'gone digital', you'll need to look through your metadata although you'll be lucky to find what you're looking for even on iTunes releases which is a shame because the credits are the most interesting things about 75% of all albums.) ANYWAY the point is that Stent knows his stuff when it comes to fiddling with sounds on great pop music, and he's here in the PJ Almighty right now because he's in charge of the new No Doubt album (there have been a few updates on his Twitter feed) and that has to be a very good thing indeed. There are a couple of features about Mark linked from his Wikipedia page.

666. Britney on US X Factor

We're not happy about this at all.
