The reality

The new Big Brovaz, who, in a lot of ways, were originally the UK's answer to the Black Eyed Peas, so Platnum are continuing some kind of legacy for ropey-but-enjoyable pop/R&B/dance hybrid bands featuring both ladies and gentlemen. Mind you, Platnum have 'previous', having 'scored' a Top 3 hit in 2008 after they appeared on bassline 'classic' 'What's It Gonna Be?' with H "Two" O. They also had a Top 20 single of their own with 'Love Shy (Thinking About You)', which is still quite enjoyable. None of that matters anymore though because they've had a bit of a break and decided to leap on the 'just a little overcrowded' dance-LOL bandwagon. Their current single 'Solar System' is a bit of a belter when it gets going, particularly the bit where the wibbly wobbly bassline 'goes off', but it's hard to imagine this lot having a particularly good greatest hits.

The Unfair Advantage

Most of their forthcoming album was produced by DJ Poet, who is part of the Black Eyed Peas touring 'posse' and co-wrote some of their singles.

Why do you want this job?
Aaron: To show the world exactly what we can do.
Mina: Why wouldn't I want this job? Getting paid to do something I love is a bonus.

Describe a situation where you worked in a team.
Mina: I work as part of a team every day being in Platnum; that's why we took the I out of Platnum, 'cos there is no "I" in team.

What do you expect to be doing in 5 years time?
Aaron: Still making killer albums and doing what I love - entertaining the masses.
Mina: Still writing and performing and living in a lovely house with a big dog cause I love 'em.
Michelle: To have a Grammy-winning album and have a fashion range.

What are your strengths?
Michelle: I'm a leader, not a follower.

What has been your greatest achievement?
Aaron: Besides my music achievements, my two daughters are my biggest achievement in life.

What are your weaknesses?
Aaron: Food.
